Cyndi Koonse, director of multicultural affairs at WWU hosted an annual LGBTQ awareness LEAD event. Terminology, societal responses and an interactive activity centered on the reaction of friends and family’s reactions to anyone in the LGBTQ community were some of the topics addressed.
My Roommate Forrest, aka Shad0w. We used to clear out our living room and invite a dozen friends over to play LAN based games.
This sign hangs in two places at a gas station near me. It hangs directly over the "visitor" parking area. Every time I fill up there, I try to figure out what on earth this thing could be referring to.
My first thought is that the gas station was telling truckers that it was OK to park in those spots overnight. But the sign is just too weird for that to be the message. Wouldn't it just say "Overnight parking for truckers allowed"?
After that, I had nothing. It turns out that this is a sign for a good thing. But given the nature of why some teens may need a safe place, I think the image on the sign is kinda creepy. They could remove the creepiness altogether by changing the sign to all words, no images.

Stuff like this makes me wonder what Chinese people think of Americans with Chinese character tattoos.
Safed is one of the four holy Jewish towns and a center of Kabbalah. The Crusaders built a castle here in 1102, and it became a predominantly Jewish town in the 16th century under Ottoman rule.
The dedicated members of Foyle Search and Rescue Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, rescue a member of the public from the waters of The River Foyle. I took the shot, instinctively, not realising that the camera was on the wrong setting. However I think that it captures the surrender to rescue and illustrates the incredible work that F.S.A.R does 24/7 on the river.

The Umpire called the slide into home base "safe". After a bit of grumbling, the other team's coach headed back to the dugout.

Our third day of our Washington-Oregon wine tour found us staying in Dundee, Oregon at a VRBO home we rented. The theme of the home was most definitely hunting and here is one of my friends checking out the very large safe in the living room that we assumed was holding the gun collection.
