This tiny wildlife refuge, full of mosquitoe's, proofed to be a 'safe haven' for many shorebirds, and to my surprise while marveling at them, a small flock of Great Kiskadee's flew into to a bush near me. I was able to pull off a few shots when a couple of joggers came running down the wooden walkway to where I was standing at the viewing platform and there they went...I never saw another one after this...I felt very lucky!
I think I had a total count of 19 lifers in the very little time I spent birding, not all of them postable, but enough to make me know I want a return trip...needed more time!

Eine Stunde später kam Carlos auch.

What a lovely week it's been, with plenty of warm sunshine, but the beginning of those glorious autumnal colours.
Every Saturday Gizmo and Sophie come to visit; in part because my parent's join Scott and I for dinner and also to get the kittens used to my house (and Sock).
Generally they don't stray too far, although every once in a while Sophie will jump to the floor to explore.
Gizmo, as pictured here, is still a little shy and will venture out of his kennel if there is a human to keep him safe from that big stinky dog.
At least he isn't hiding anymore. That's progress!

I know, the title might seem weird, but for some reason that's the song that inspired this photo and the feeling portrayed in this, together with the Hunger Games series.
And oh my god it was so incredibly cold. But worth it, I still love this photo a lot.
