Oonche oonche parbat jab choomte hain ambar ko
Pyaasa pyaasa ambar jab choomta hai saagar ko
Pyaar se kasne ko baahon mein basne ko
Dil mera lalchaaye koi to aa jaaye
Aisa koi saathi ho aisa koi premi ho
Pyaas dil ki bujha jaaye
Neele neele ambar par chaand jab aaye
Pyaar barsaaye humko tarsaaye
Pandharpur is one of the holy places in Maharashtra.
Thousands of people, mostly farmers from villages all over Maharashtra travel to Pandharpur walking severral hundred kilometers. Specially for Ashadhi and Kartiki (around in July and November end) Ekadashi (a holy day).
People aging from 6 to 89 (as far as I have seen) travel together.
People from the villages on the way provide "varkaris" (travellers) with free food and shelter.
Varkaris (traveller devotees) can use literally anything to make their journey to their beloved Vithhal () faster.
