MLW S4s 7108-7107 prepare to depart the CP yard for the Soo Line on the U. S. side. The Soo Line boxcars on the head end are loads of paper from the Abitibi mill near the waterfront. As far as I know virtually all of Abitibi's production was exported to U. S. customers.
Can't be many of these if any other A4 in this very rare Viper Green colour in the UK! There is a few of them in the USA but they are S4s not A4s!
The Soo Line yard job with GP9 411 sits in the clear as CP S4s 7108-7107 pull in with a transfer from Canada.

Seen here at Shanklin in July 1975 is 1934 Metro Cammell built DM S4S awaiting it's departure time for Ryde. To the right can be seen the by then disused signal box and loop which was removed four years later. The station remains in Southern green and cream. S4S was to have another 14 years in service on the Island, being withdrawn and returning to the Mainland in September 1989 and immediately transported to Vic Berry of Leicester for scrapping.
Scanned from an acquired negative.
