The English Portion of one of the Historical Markers (including errors) reads:

--Service of free tea at the Hatsune-jaya--

Since the opening of Sankeien garden to the public in 1906, free tea was served to visitors at this arour, the Hatsune-jaya. Rabindranath Tagore, the great Indian poet and laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature, mentions in his accounts of travel in Japan that here 'Everyone is treated to a cup of tea.'

This service of hot tea was lost sometime in the aftermath of the war. Since the missing tea kettle was found again in 1982, the service of hot barley tea prepared with the old kettle as in the old days has resumed, although only for the period of Ume (Japanese apricot) blossoms viewing.
