For the winter, I removed the Accord Type R front lip (it's just held on with clips), added the winter wheels and tires, replaced the stock air filter with a K&N, installed winter wiper blades and did an extensive undercoating/rustproofing treatment with Fluid Film. The antifreeze is good down to about -30ºF, so I think I'm good there.

This is an interesting mesh material. Very fine (0.08 mm) rustproof 316L Stainless steel wire is knitted with 40% polyester yarn to create a stretchy fabric that is easy to touch and wash but wears tough. Highly conductive in the transverse direction (2.2 Ohm per sq) and ample 1000 Ohm per sq conductivity longitudinally. Great for static control. Make computer covers, overgarments, etc. 152 gr/m². 39 inch wide. Gray.

It has 80,000 original miles and in the last five years, it has acquired a rebuilt engine (long block), water pump, starter, rebuilt rack & pinion assembly, wheel cylinders and a heater motor.
This year, we are replacing the rear drums, head gasket, engine and transmission oil seals and the proverbial preservation management (rustproofing).

Vauxhall Velox tailfin and whitewalls. I think the car in the reflection is also a Velox, but an earlier model. This is the PA 1957-62 model, heavily influenced by US models of the '50s, but the exotic styling never really took off in the UK.
Note also the 'pseudo-wraparound' rear windows. Vauxhall pioneered curved windscreens following US technology, but it was initially expensive and hard to make in large sheets, so they reserved the large one-piece wraparound screen for the front, using smaller pieces for the rear to keep costs and manufacturing complications to a minimum.
If Vauxhall spent as much on engines as they did on styling, it's possible there might be more Veloxes around these days, but the engine was an unremarkable six-cylinder, and as the bodywork featured only basic rustproofing (i.e. paint), and like so many other cars of its era it rusted rapidly.
For some reason Vauxhall never seemed to have quite the market slice that BLMC or Ford had until much later, a case of style over substance perhaps.

In 2009, artist Michael Thomas Hill created Forgotten Songs, an installation of 110 empty birdcages suspended high in the air that play the songs of fifty birds that once lived in central Sydney before the colonization and urbanization of the area. The sounds of the calls change from day to night with daytime birds' songs disappearing with the sun and nocturnal birds, which inhabited the area, sounding late into the evening.
Though first commissioned as part of the City's 2009 temporary laneway art program, the artwork proved to be so popular that visitors and city dwellers requested for it to remain as a permanent public installation. The public outcry led to 180 new rustproof cages to be re-installed with 10 speakers that play the sweet songs of 50 bird species. As a nice touch, the names of the birds that once populated the area are engraved on the paved stones beneath the cages.
