I've actually seen this rusting rig from Edinburgh on clearer days, but when I was over at Burntisland last week I could take a closer picture as it is moored, rusting, in the Firth of Forth by the Fife coastline, and been there for a while. I don't know if it is being decommissioned (there are some small harbours and commercial marine companies nearby) or if it is just mothballed temporarily until the oil price goes back up (the huge drop has played havoc with the oil business in the North Sea, quite a lot of rig support vessels tied up for long periods in the harbours at the moment)
My only photo of 'real' Rock Island locomotives is this crappy photo of a pair of the Rock's SW1500s languishing at the Silvis facility back in 1995.
These poor things must have sat there unwanted and uncared for since the 1980 shutdown of the railroad.

On the right behind the tree is a frame wall with sash windows, in front of an alignment of poles, suggesting a large building was planned but never eventuated.

Rusting Garden Sunflower Ornament
This is a metal sunflower atop a metal pole. It's ornamental and I thought would be a good support stake. The head is too large and heavy for the slender pole, so the wind turns vigorously. It's too much to use as a support for plants, even for vines...
I took this shot near sunset, so the light was really not strong.enough...;))
I did lots of image post processing in Apple's iPhoto to bring out the colors and enhance details. Unfortunately, iPhoto is no longer supported by Apple...:))

Texas Photo Festival 2010, Smithville, TX
When I went to the Texas Photo Festival, I had two photographic purposes. For most of the event, I took portraits but I also wanted to get some interesting HDR images of Smithville. Here is the first of my HDR images from the event. The pump stands like a rusted monolith to a by gone era.
