* Somehow this doesn't look quite as good on flickr as it did when I had it in Photoshop - but when in Photoshop I had this set for 16 bit color. Unfortunately flickr won't allow a 16 bit upload. Has to be converted to 8 bits. Are you following all these "bits" & "bites", Bob?

Beautiful ruby red vintage glass jewel encased in big filigree brass stampings.
This is certainly a big show stopper. Great for wearing day or night. Beautifully detailed.

I was recently given this cutting by a South African friend but no identification was offered at all. (He was using it as summer? bedding in his English garden - I've no idea about hardiness) I think it may be Crassula streyi but searches on the web seem to highlight cultivars of Crassula multicava: 'Ruby red' & 'Purple Dragon'. (Google searches show popularity in Australia) A comment on the following South African site refutes the idea that C. multicava either has red undersides to its leaves or is the parent of any hybrid with such:

It is actually tricky to photograph the underside of leaves and in my specimen above they are a darker maroon to the naked eye.

3 coats (only 2 coats needed, but 3 gives more depth) with Seche Vite, indoors. Good application.

This winter, at both EBI and Granite City Blues Presents Livin' the Blues, I had the good fortune to hang out and befriend the amazing Justin and Ruby.
