This winter, at both EBI and Granite City Blues Presents Livin' the Blues, I had the good fortune to hang out and befriend the amazing Justin and Ruby.
Not only are they awe-inspiring dancers, incredible teachers and never off the social dancefloor...they're just fantastic people.

The saga of Ruby Red... and the lipstick betrayal that led Ruby to lose her head. :D
ATTENTION: This poem contains the "d" word. I don't usually publish anything with that word, but the poem just wouldn't have read as well with "darn shade".
Well...
They call me Ruby Red
But I don’t care
And some of them said
I should get the chair
Because I lost my head
When another heart broke mine.
If I don’t get the chair
I’ll still have lost my life.
One night I found the note
And that was all she wrote.
”I really love you"
Folded like a heart and sealed with a lipstick kiss
I could read between the lines
And see what I had missed.
I asked him the next day
To see what he would say.
He said he found it in a bathroom stall,
Thought it was cute, wanted to show me that’s all.
Then he smiled at me with those lips
So sincere and oh so sweet
Never knowing this time he’d slipped--
That same damn lipstick on his cheek.

East side (away from the setting sun). The deep ruby red looks better away from the sun. The sun was creating a yellowish cast which drained out some of the deep, rich red.
