You can say a lot of good things about Ruby on Rails (RoR) and a lot of bad things about php. I've said such things myself, on a regular basis.
But I keep getting this error message from various RoR-applications, and no matter how badly coded my php apps are, I don't even come close to a complete shutdown error like this.
It's a shame that RoR must behave like this.

SimpleTicket is an open source trouble ticket system written using Ruby on Rails. The system is ideal for companies with between 1 and 20 engineers.
Our idea was to build a simple ticketing system that worked. There are many features you won't find in SimpleTicket and that is why SimpleTicket is so powerful - it does less!
The first version of SimpleTicket was released early this year. In our rush to release the first version we ended up with UI that looked like crap. We are now trying to fix some of the problems with the code and UI. These are drafts of the newer UI (not a major departure, but a major cleanup). What do you think?
We decided to use the OSI GNU General Public License to release the source code. SimpleTicket was released by Spur, the company behind Architel, WeblogsWork and Big in Japan. To obtain an alternate license, customized version or support visit the SimpleTicket website for contact information
DropSend is a great service for sending large files. We have a problem in PodServe with:
"Upload large files thought http always was a problematic feature: we have browser timeouts, server timeouts, network connection problems - a lot of things who can affect the upload."
But Carson does not have these sort of issues with DropSend. I asked our guys why we have problems and they dont. Here is the answer:
"they are not using rails for the files upload. That's something I've discussed with alexl / kevin - Maybe we should do the upload module using perl or php, so we can get a visual statusbar with connection information and upload complete %."
