Ruby had surgery earlier this month for a hematoma on her ear. She had to wear an awful, plastic Elizabethan collar for a little over a week and was not very happy about it. Now that it's off, she has not stopped wagging her tail.

I was out yesterday, before the storm, trying push the limits of the 5Diii in low light. A cloudy day and in the shade. It seemed to lock focus on the target pretty quickly. I've also performed Micro Adjustments on the new camera and lens combos using Reikan Focal software. The EF 500mm is at -6 now. Seems to be pretty spot on.
Shot at f/8 1/500ths at 2000iso!!!! A salvageable image at 2000iso ! I adjusted luminance noise reduction in LR 4.2 to +20 and cropped the image pretty tightly. Maybe 50-60%.
The 7D can't produce anything decent over 800iso.
I'm fairly impressed with the 5D's capabilities.

For anyone out there who's old enough to remember: Does this remind you of "Farfel", the Nestle's Chocolate dog puppet in TV commercials from the 60's? N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestles' makes the very best....chocolate. After singing this jingle, Farfels' mouth would shut with an audible fwop.
The ruby-throated hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) is a species of hummingbird that generally spends the winter in Central America, Mexico, and Florida, and migrates to Eastern North America for the summer to breed. It is by far the most common hummingbird seen east of the Mississippi River in North America.
This hummingbird is from 7 to 9 cm (2.8 to 3.5 in) long and has an 8 to 11 cm (3.1 to 4.3 in) wingspan. Weight can range from 2 to 6 g (0.071 to 0.212 oz), with males averaging 3.4 g (0.12 oz) against the slightly larger female which averages 3.8 g (0.13 oz).[2][3] Adults are metallic green above and greyish white below, with near-black wings. Their bill, at up to 2 cm (0.79 in), is long, straight, and very slender. As in all hummingbirds, the toes and feet of this species are quite small, with a middle toe of around 0.6 cm (0.24 in) and a tarsus of approximately 0.4 cm (0.16 in). The ruby-throated hummingbird can only shuffle if it wants to move along a branch, though it can scratch its head and neck with its feet

As we get closer to the Ravelympics, I thought I’d start a project that doesn’t require a lot of concentration, that can be easily picked up whenever. I’m planning a beaded bind-off for this one, although I may very well change my mind at the end of all this stockinette!
Specs: Handspun from Corgi Hill Shimmer Batt in True Blood, size 5 needles, 8/0 Scarlet A/B beads for beaded bind off.
Ruby of Tantalus costume, made and modeled by Carrie.
Ruby is from Final Fantasy IX.
