In 2016 bestaat de museale versie van de RTM 50 jaar. In 1966 reed de laatste RTM tram tussen Hellevoetsluis en Spijkenisse. Na een tijd in Hellevoetsluis gezeten te hebben is de RTM niet meer weg te denken van de Brouwersdam. Op tweede Paasdag opende de RTM het jubileum seizoen. Een paar beeldjes van het depot in Ouddorp.

In 1963 werd bij de carrosseriebedrijf Hoogeveen en de centrale werkplaats van de RTM generatorwagen MBD1700 gebouwd. Uit Duitsland kwamen twee Grossraum motorwagens welke samen met de generatorwagen het Sperwerstel gingen vormen.

Na twee jaar dienst gedaan te hebben werd het tramstel verkocht aan de Zillertalbahn in Oostenrijk. In 2002 kwam het trio terug naar Nederland en de RTM heeft het tramstel in restauratie.

18 April 2015 - De eerste echte fotostop was gepland met de Sperwer, maar omdat de Sperwer nog niet op eigen kracht kan rijden, werd deze door de motorwagen M1602 naar het fotopunt gesleept, en kon deze tijdens het klaarzetten nog gefotografeerd worden.

Between 1898 and 1966, the RTM (Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij) was the main regional transport company of the islands of South Holland and Sealand.

The company operated ferry services and had 235 kilometers of tram track, the steam and diesel trams did not only transport passengers as the company also focused on the transportation of agricultural products, livestock and construction material.

After the flood disaster in 1953, the RTM lost its significance as the construction of the Delta Works with roads and dykes built for flood defenses made the network of ferry services and tram lines redundant. In February 1966, the last RTM tram ran between Hellevoetsluis and Spijkenisse.
