There is the bus I would like to take, number 97. oh well, the transit strike in Marseille (France) is now in its 32nd day and will continue strong through the weekend...
[edit] The transit strike in Marseille went on for 42 days. The judges eventually declared it illegal, the workers are back at work but say they are still on strike and might suspend service at any moment. They are not striking for a pay raise and retirement age but in protest of the privatisation of the system. There is a new trolly line under construction (the city is normally a mess but 10 times worse now) and it is mostly private. Prior to the city transit strike there was the passenger/car boat strike of the boats to and from North Africa and Corsica. That one was violent with the unions shooting missiles at police cars. I do have to mention, Marseille did NOT suffer from the random violence in the suburbs that was widely reported about France in general.
[edit] so, new yorkers, are you ready for a month of no transit? Gotta catch the bus ...
