From a couple months back, I'm finally taking the time to go back, review and edit some images. The last couple moments of light as the sun drops below the horizon at Martin's Beach in Half Moon Bay.

Currently wearing Devon branding but First S&A legals and seen here on layover at Trowbridge railway station before operating a late evening rail replacement for First Great Western to Bath Spa
The ship 'RRS Discovery' was built in 1901, and was the last traditional three masted ship to be built in the UK. She was originally constructed for Antarctic research purposes. After a long and successful life she is now in a custom-built dock in Dundee, the city in which she was built.
Original photo had buildings behind the ship of which i painstakingly cut with PS, took me several days!

Following up with my last post, here is another one from Seattle’s 12th Street Bridge.
In the past, I preferred to shoot ultra wide but I’ve caught a niche for panoramas. Because shooting a panorama image is more methodical and the process is more complex, I find it far more rewarding when things go right. I mentioned this in a previous post, but I’ve been using the Panning Clamp from Really Right Stuff and it makes setting up a panoramic shot, very easy.
Setup was pretty simple; camera was mounted on tripod, image stabilization was turned off. Camera was mounted in vertical position with 17mm lens and four shots were taken using a panning clamp. Then the images were stitched together in Photoshop CS6 and developed in Lightroom 4.
All the gear is listed below:
Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M5
Lens: Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital 17mm f/1.8 Lens
Aperture: f/5.6
Exposure: NA
Focal Length: 17mm
ISO Speed: 200
Tripod: Gitzo GT-2531 + Markins Q3t + RRS Panning Clamp + RSS BOEM5 Set: Base + L-Plate + Grip

RRS Sir David Attenborough finally left Cammell Laird shipyard to begin sea trials and crew training. It is seen here passing Seacombe with Liverpool's Three Graces as a backdrop. It did a 180 degree turn and berthed at the Cruise Liner Terminal. As it will be based in Holyhead for its testing the departure from the Mersey may be delayed due to the current lockdown in Wales.
Thanks to John Barton for the tip off that this was happening.
Range Rover Sport looks like it's moving even when it's standing still. The wheel arches are subtly flared, power vents sit behind the front wheels and a sharp muscular line runs along the car's hips

From a distance I thought the ship in port yesterday afternoon was a cruiser - but it turned out to be the RRS Discovery, which is a science ship.
I don't know if it is connected, but I heard on the Today programme this morning that scientists are investigating cod, the males of which appear to use regional accents when trying to persuade females to release their eggs. Apparently they are currently trying to discover whether Liverpool cod sounded distinctive.
I smiled to think of cod with scouse accents...

Its first mission was the British National Antarctic Expedition, carrying Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their first, and highly successful, journey to the Antarctic, known as the Discovery Expedition. After service as a merchant ship before and during the First World War, Discovery was taken into the service of the British government in 1923 to carry out scientific research in the Southern Ocean, becoming the first Royal Research Ship. The ship undertook a two-year expedition - the Discovery Investigations - recording valuable information on the oceans, marine life and being the first scientific investigation into whale populations. From 1929 to 1931 Discovery served as the base for the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition under Douglas Mawson, a major scientific and territorial quest in what is now the Australian Antarctic Territory. On her return from the BANZARE, Discovery was moored in London as a static training ship and visitor attraction until 1979 when she was placed in the care of the Maritime Trust as a museum ship. After an extensive restoration Discovery is now the centrepiece of a visitor attraction in the city where she was built, Dundee. She is one of only two surviving expedition ships from the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, the other being the Norwegian ship Fram.
