RRB Alco RS2 303 at Proviso, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built by Alco in February 1950 ( c/n 77916 ) as Green Bay & Western RS2 303. At some point the turbo was changed from air cooled to water cooled, which changed the position of the exhaust stack. It was sold to Railroad Builders Inc. ( RRB ) in January 1978, sold to State of Michigan in 1979, sold to Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway in 1984, sold to Southern Michigan Railroad Society in 1990 and repainted as New York Central 8203, sold to Duluth, South Shore, and Atlantic Railway Division of the SLHTS and moved to Lake Superior Railroad Museum, stored inoperable on the WSOR at Horicon, Wisconsin.

It's been a while--almost two years--since I've posted anything new. Moving to Denver for a new job had some advantages, but I miss the ocean and surfing. What's a surf photographer supposed to photograph when he's moved to the mountains/high-desert?!? Everyone in Colorado keeps telling me that surfing and skiing are the same thing and that I should head to the mountains and photograph skiers. Well let me tell you something, they are not the same... You have to wear way more clothes to stay warm while photographing and you rarely see bikinis and shorts on the mountain tops... But while driving around and learning the new areas I've seen an abundance of wildlife

So I decided to breakout the Sigmonster and begin shooting some, here are a couple of recent shots of some animals taken as I was driving around the Denver area. I hope you enjoy these photos and "Thanks in advance" for any likes and-or comments!!! And will post some more shots as time permits.

P.S. I had three or four sessions just--days--before moving to the mainland and could have some "new" surf photos in the future, once I find the folders I've saved them to on the backup drive--I'm searching through almost 15 years of surf sessions...

I know this looks a lot like another photo in my photostream, but this is a single shot, not an HDR composite image like the other one. Also, I didn't run noise filtering on this one as I wanted to "see" the grains of sand more clearly. I also cropped it a little differently too, 4X8 vice 4X6 format. I think I like this shot better.

The water was colder than she thought...

Here are a few shots from North Shore the day prior to the start of the Billabong Pipe Masters Invitational surf competition. Several world-class surfers were out practicing on the 8-12 foot swells at Backdoor including Joel Parkinson (Parko), Kelly Slater, Sunny Garcia, and Taj Burrow, just to name a few. And of course you can't watch the wave action without being distracted by the bevy of beauties wondering along the shoreline as well. Will post some more shots as time permits.

While on our "Southwest 2012" vacation back in mid-to-late April, we came across this beautiful restored Ford Crown Victoria parked at Balanced Rock in Arches National Park. The owner was here in Moab, Utah for the annual car show and decided to see the sights that day. This car was in "showroom" condition and the fact that it was here in a national park, harkened back to the 50's when America was on the move, traveling the country looking for adventure outside of the cities. This car was almost more amazing than the "rock" we actually came to see. And for the astute observer and car aficionado, you will also notice the rear end of a Ford Shelby Cobra along the left side of the picture. He was also here for the car show, but didn't stay long enough for me to get a decent shot of his car.
