Thank you very much, for all your much appreciated comments and invites!

PLEASE, LOOK AT THIS PICTURE ON BLACK!

This is the River Nidd flowing through the market town of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.

To the left (behind the railings) is Waterside, a road running along the side of the river. Along the river is Marigold café and boating. The rowing boats are for hire and it's always entertaining watching novice's trying to row.

On the top of the distant cliff is Knaresborough castle with the tower just visible in the trees with their spring green leaves

The few standing remains of Knaresborough Castle are well enclosed by trees making large views difficult especially when the trees are in leaf hence this early spring view to show much of the remains

The castle was a stronghold of medieval kings and today beautifully set overlooking the River Nidd

There is a small museum well worth a visit and if you time it right you get a tour of the hidden tunnel used to bring food in during the seize

The castle was first built by a Norman baron in c. 1100 on a cliff above the River Nidd. In the 1170s Hugh de Moreville and his followers took refuge there after assassinating Thomas Becket. In 1205 King John took control.

The castle was taken by Parliamentarian troops in 1644 during the Civil War, and largely destroyed in 1648

Best viewed large.

Schloss Laxenburg - Austria

Gently floating on the water, waiting for me to notice and take a picture.

Keswick waterside in the English Lakes.

The sun had set off to the right from here and there were some wonderful colours but a stone building with scaffolding and the wide expanse of Crow Park put paid to that.

So you get another cliched shot I'm afraid.

The Greylag (or Graylag) Geese are ancestors of most domestic geese, the greylag is the largest and bulkiest of the wild geese native to the UK and Europe.

I was walking beside this little backwater of the River Fowey when I spotted a Mute Swan emerge from beneath the small road bridge. I took this image with a macro lens i was carrying at the time.

Odderøya is an island and neighborhoods in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The 0.7-square-kilometre (170-acre) island lies immediately to the south of the city centre of Kristiansand and it is connected to the mainland by four bridges. The island creates a natural division between the eastern and western parts of the port of Kristiansand.

Gravanekanalen canal separates Odderøya from the city center and the fish wharf (Fiskebrygga). Prior to 1993, the island was owned by the Norwegian government and it was used as a naval base and training grounds, but since that time, the municipality of Kristiansand has taken over and is now using it for recreational purposes. The island is mostly undeveloped, but the town development plan does include an area on the island for up to 500 homes.

There are signs of ancient human activity on Odderøya. At Bendiksbukta, a dagger, an ax, and other tools of flint dating back to the Stone Age (Around the year 1000 BC) have been found.

On Odderøya, there are many interesting traces of military activity.

Within this defined geographic area, there are military fortifications stretching from the Great Northern War to the end of the Cold War

Key tracks from the battle of 9 April 1940 (Operation Weserübung) are partially visible. There has been military activity on Odderøya from 1667 until 1999, when the fortress was phased out. wikipedia

"The river flows, and so does life; find your quiet harbor."

A serene landscape captured with a focus on the interplay of water, land, and sky along the Nile River.

A small, rustic wooden boat moored in calm blue water is positioned in the lower-left foreground, acting as a clear point of interest and adding a human element to the natural scene.

The horizontal line of the lush, palm-lined riverbank and the expanse of water create a sense of depth and tranquility. The inclusion of the bird in flight, in the upper frame, adds dynamic interest and balances the composition.

Natural sunlight is illuminating the scene while the vibrant blue of the water contrasts with the earthy tones of the boat and the greens of the vegetation.

The ripples on the water's surface, the weathered wood of the boat, and the distinct fronds of the palm trees provide textural variety.

Like a river, life is always in motion and constantly changing.

A powerful symbol often associated with life, change, and the flow of time. The bird soaring in the sky symbolizes freedom, hope, transcendence, or a spiritual connection. It can also represent perspective or a higher viewpoint.

The combination of these elements evokes a sense of tranquility, timelessness, and the enduring connection between humanity and nature.

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of 'Miniature'

I placed the boat on a windowsill with natural light coming from the right and placed a a sheet of transparent blue plastic behind to give the effect of water.

A photo I took while on my recent holiday to Donegal. There is something magical about morning and evening light or the golden hour as most photographers call it. I just loved the gorgeous reflection on Sheephaven bay.

Just a simple candid street style Snap captured at Kent UK of a Fisherman rowing a tender from his fishing boat.

The small island of Carrick-a-rede is joined to the coast of Northern Ireland by a 20m long, 30m high rope bridge that was first erected in 1755 by local salmon fishermen. From here you get good views of Rathlin Island and on a good day Scotland.
