A rowboat in the Willamette River that runs through Portland Oregon. We were there at the end of April to visit our sons. They sleep a little later than we do (ahem). We had lots of time to go exploring. This was a beautiful morning on the river. That is the Hawthorne bridge in the background. The bridge section on the left between the two red towers lifts vertically to allow taller ships through. A fascinating design.

The other images have been retouched with the old fashioned mouse, but this shot is the first one to have been edited with my new Wacom Intuos5 (small). I have to say that it is fun to work on the small details when you have a pen and a tablet. I was thinking about getting the medium sized tablet, but the salesman convinced me that this size was good enough. He was right. For those out there that mean that you have to have an A4 sized tab, think again. Smaller tab equals smaller surface to reach over (equals faster workflow). Maybe a medium sized tab in the future, but for now; this tablet rocks!

The "James J. Cronin", a 1938 wooden dory, sits tied up at dock waiting for someone to take her on an adventure. The boat is part of the fleet from the Francisco Rowing Club.
I ventured out for a wander yesterday as the weather was good, first call was my local Greenwich, and then on a whim decided to head to Richmond, and very picture perfect it was too…although mega busy!
Light changes fast and the landscape gets a new mood in a split second. One needs to be trigger-ready. Photography is a wonderful thing!

Another way to celebrate Canada is for rowers to come out and practice their racing. This photo was taken from my balcony of Rowers from the Squamish Nation's Band practicing their canoe boat skills which will be used against other rowers from their tribe in their own celebrations coming up this holiday weekend for Canada Day.
