I was teary all day today after everything that happened yesterday... I spent most of my morning sitting out on the deck and just taking it all in. I came back inside to grab a blanket because it started get breezy, and he made me this: his rootbeer float special with all the trimmings...
He's very sweet to me. And I'm thankful I have someone like him in my life.
We wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't point at it.
Three straws - one for the mouth, and one each for each nostril.

... of an A&W Root Beer float you must leave lots of room in the glass for the ice cream.
It was such a hardship to make and consume this in order to illustrate how to make a proper root beer float!
Although Kwanon already called dibs on Photo of the Day for National Ice Cream Day, Vollenda took a picture of her celebratory root beer float. She thought it was also a great picture for today's Photo of the Day, so there are two official photos today. But hey, a day to celebrate ice cream deserves two images!

What you see here is 9 parts ice cream, 1 part root beer. They give you the can because they could only pour in about one tablespoon, the rest of the cup and jammed with ice cream. LosOlivos suggested it was really a root beer moat, rather than a float.

I really hate that I never do baking when it's light out =/
The backdrop on this was construction paper because white wasn't working too well. Hence the grainy looking texture.
