"Romance" , an 1829 poem by Edgar Allan Poe

Romance, who loves to nod and sing, With drowsy head and folded wing, Among the green leaves as they shake Far down within some shadowy lake, To me a painted paroquet Hath been- a most familiar birdTaught me my alphabet to sayTo lisp my very earliest word While in the wild wood I did lie, A hild-with most knowing eye.

Of late, eternal Condor years So shake the very Heaven on high With tumult as they thunder by, I have no time for idle cares Through gazing on the unquiet sky.

And when an hour with calmer wings Its down upon my spirit flings That little time with lyre and rhyme To while away- forbidden things!

My heart would feel to be a crime Unless it trembled with the strings.

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Constructed in 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticized by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world.

The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world. The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. Its base is square, 125 metres (410 ft) on a side. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to become the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years.

"Fall Romance"

This is at the bottom of where two canyons meet. It was the perfect setting. I feel like this would be a beautiful place for an Autumn wedding. The fall colors, soft light, flowing water all really come together to make this a magical scene in my opinion. I want to go back here and just sit and relax and enjoy the fresh air and sound of the water cascading over the rocks. The experience was a kind of peace that one rarely finds.

I'll be adding this one to my website today with some others but you can always order directly though me for the absolute best prices.

My contribution for this week's theme "romance", for the Swedish photo group Fotosondag.

This is a macro image of one of the roses in our garden. It has a bright pink color. As you can see the sun was shining very bright that day.

I used a single extension tube in combination with my 35mm lens to capture this image. I had to use Æ’/16.0 to keep the image sharp.

Lago di Garda / Gardameer

Here's to some mental clarity prior to the arduous occasion in the forthcoming week. There is a value in finding a balance between labor and dalliance, but it is essential to have experienced both ends of the spectrum to find contentment in the middle-ground.

It would be beneficial to accept what life offers you and to try and "drink" from every cup granted to us. In the sense of wine, ALL wines should be tasted; and some should only be sipped; but, with others, you can drink the whole damn bottle.

Cheers.

A Free-verse poem that Caspian wrote for Marigold:

What can be said of your beauty when words are insufficient?

That your golden-red hair shines more brilliantly than the sun?

That your eyes twinkle more alluringly than the stars in the heavens?

Nay, these are not enough for your radiance.

Perhaps that your sweet smell is better than the richest of candies?

Or that the warmth of your presence fills a room better than any fire?

Alas, these too do not do you justice.

In my eyes, sweetness, all other beauty pales in comparison to you.

A gorgeous bouquet in my home, of ruffled roses with that romantic glow!

Low tide just in time for the sunrise so all the colorful rocks were visisble.

A message of love appears amid autumn foliage deep within the woods.

ruffles, moleskines, and pearls. :)

For the Smile on Saturday "Minimal-Egg-Tic" theme; my first (conscious) exploration of minimalistic images. What fun!

I'm not really a pink person but somehow eggs and pink seemed to go well together.
