This vignette of Katherine Johnson is part of "Women of NASA," a project on the LEGO Ideas contest celebrating five pioneering women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Vote to make this a real LEGO set: ideas.lego.com/projects/147876
Johnson, a mathematician and space scientist, was a longtime NASA researcher who is best known for calculating and verifying trajectories for the Mercury and Apollo programs — including the Apollo 11 mission that first landed humans on the moon. She is a 2016 recipient of the U.S. Medal of Honor, the highest recognition given to American civilians.
If this project receives 10,000 votes, you could soon buy one at a LEGO store near you!
The full Women of NASA set includes four additional minifigures — of Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Margaret Hamilton, and Nancy Grace Roman — plus vignettes including a microscale Hubble Space Telescope, space shuttle, and replica of a famous photo showing the code that got astronauts to the moon.

LOOK -
i'm sick of people calling miley all these names. She made mistakes BIG WHOOP. who doesnt.
I recently found this picture of "Selena "
I doubt it's really her but if it was I bet all her fans would be like "Its only a picture, i dont hate her" but if it was Miley i would hear "She's such a slut! When will she learn!" I know Miley had MANY mistakes but now she's doing well. No photoleaks, nothing. Maybe her current choice of clothing for tour is a little out of hand but let her do her. I love Miley and I love Selena. Just let them do their own mistakes, dont treat one better than the other just because you like them better. Same with Demi (: They are both wonderful rolemodels.
NO RUDE COMMENTS
NO SPECIAL TREATMENT!
I KNOW ITS NOT REALLY HER! READ ^^
k byee (:

She's got to be the realest person in Hollywood. She's a disney star which we all know has alot of borders but some how she still manages to be her own person. She's not disgusting and she doesn't drink or do drugs. She doesn't take racy photos of herself. Her music is from her soul not from disney's mind. She's goofy and fun but proffesional and she'll greet any fan with a smile. She'll stand up for herself and others including her little sister. She's insanely talented and charming. She's the perfect rolemodel. She's Demi.
So why do so many people hate her?

Eternity is a very small word for something which is dimensionless, limitless and cannot be measured. Human beings have a strange relationship with this term. Men never realise, never can they reckon what it takes to inscribe a part of them into eternity. Some men are deserving enough to be remembered for a long time. A few men for a longer time. But there are a chosen few, who just don't inscribe a part of them into eternity, they own eternity, they rule eternity. Sachin Tendulkar, probably, is one of them. And I am not being overenthusiastic here.
He has been the sun for world cricket, lighting up almost everything in his way, in his ambit, beyond his ambit, with his glory, with his success, with his humility, with his cricket. He has been the belief of a billion people, he has carried the hopes of a billion people, he has brought smiles to the faces of a billion people. We Indians are simple people, and he has made that simplicity look magnificent, with his glory.
There was a time when I used to say "Sachin-The Only God", write "Jogeshwar Tendulkar" on the cover page of my books, carry his biography to the bed, to the school, to every possible place. Though I have grown over these now, that admiration, that respect and the faith still remains, unbound and undiminished.
The young fan in me is still alive though. Even now my heart misses a beat every time he comes out to bat. Even now I feel that the game loses its sheen when he gets out. And even now I feel terribly upset when he gets out early. It has become kind of personal, and the phenomenon called Sachin Tendulkar has become an integrated part of my life, having its own independent space. I still, am falling short of words.
Sachin Tendulkar has been the subject in a billion creations. This post is just an honest attempt at paying tribute to a man, who is worth more than his weight in gold.
The sun rose twenty years ago and is still shining brightly, with all its glory. As the world celebrates twenty years of splendour in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, I pay my humble respects to the little big man.
I could not think beyond James Horner's theme for the motion picture, Braveheart, which I think suits the amazing achievements of the little champion..

When you can't live up to the Role Models in the media.
This was part of a session I took for an exam piece (my Daughter's A Level work) about self image.
Who defines what is beautiful?
Magazines constantly trick females into believing that perfection is a possibility. Celebrities role model a life style whereby they instinctively hide their individualisms and become clones of society. The public therefore feels compelled to achieve this definition of ‘beautiful.’ Surely, this means we size up beauty in the same way we would pick a cake at afternoon tea? We automatically judge on aesthetically pleasing form.
As young girls fail in their conquest to replicate a plastic Barbie look, they unfortunately become more aware of their flaws. They forget that beauty is the opposite of perfection - it’s about confidence, charisma and confidence. Inner beauty never needs make up. Females need to be reminded that imperfections are what make each individual human and unique. Flaws are perfection.
Terry Fox was a 21 year old victim of cancer who decided that he would run across Canada (5000 miles) -- despite having a prosthetic leg -- to raise money for cancer research and to give hope to other cancer sufferers -- The Marathon of Hope -- Each day he would run 26 miles. He attempt was cut short when he was once again diagnosed with cancer. He had completed 3300 miles. He passed away 9 months later.
His legacy lives on -- every year The Terry Fox run for cancer takes place around the world (today here in Sarnia) and has raised over $500M since its inception.
