A Favourite Autumn location of mine is at Bottesford West Junction, but theres rarely anything unusual to photograph here at the right time of day. Today I got lucky with 37611 'Denise' working 5L48 Barrow Hill to Great Yarmouth conveying former Crosscountry HST Mk3 coaches passing the location in fine weather, the now disused Signalbox just visible in the background

I was assured that the trip up the Honeybourne branch is always done at a gentle pace, so I'd have plenty of time to get to Honeybourne proper and secure my shots, but unfortunately the walk back to my car wasn't factored in to the equation. By the time I'd dribbled in to the station car park, Perseus was slowly working up to the red signal. Despite not having time to change any settings on my camera, the shot turned out better than I'd have expected, and it just goes to show that I can still do unpanned work; well kind of.

ROG 37510 'Orion' blasts through Whitlingham Junction on a windy Sunday 24th November 2024. After dropping off a mixed rake of coaches the previous day, the 'Tractor' hauls a rake of Eastern Rail Services coaches towards Castle Donington sidings for further use. I had chosen this location in the hope of some autumn colours still clinging on to the trees during Storm Bert. However, as can be seen in the foreground of the image, the trees on the left hand side have been cut down to open up this scene for the first time in several decades.

57312 ROG leads a assortment of coaches and 2 New Merseyrail units on a Walton old sidings to Crewe h.s. working which was running 14 minutes late. 37510 was on the rear for support.

The other bit of classic traction I saw at Leicester was this rather claggy tractor in Europhoenix livery but operating under Rail Operations Group. This thrashed it through Leicester and was a nice treat for the enthusiasts who stayed after the 56 Railtour. 37601 was headed for Derby RTC.

The houses on the hill add some much needed colour to an otherwise drab November day as ROGs 37510 leads 5M57 09:47 Laira T&RSMD - Derby RTC through Bristol Temple Meads on 27/11/2024 with barrier vehicles from the previous days move of 175002 from Ely Papworth.
