In 1070, Robert de Beaumont founded a collegiate church here. In the 12th century it became a priory. The church on this picture (now a ruin) was built in the 13th century and destroyed between 1820 and 1850.

ROG`s/Europhoenix`s 37510 "Orion" dragging a new West Midlands Aventra unit 730018 are seen at Raynors farm crossing Stenson with 5Q65 the 10.08 Derby Litchurch lane to Oxley Car.M.D.

15/12/2022.

This was a bit of a rush job after getting stuck in 2 traffic jams so we just made it with only a couple of minutes to get the pole up .

37510 is seen dragging 730202 as it passes Barrow upon Soar working the 5Q72 1211 Derby Litchurch Lane - Wembley Intercity Depot 8/3/25.

On 26/02/24 my path to bed after work was delayed by trying my luck for 5R56 0852 Derby RTC-Castle Donington PRDC sidings operated by ROG 37884 & 37800 with 4 coaches for store. The wind was blowing a bitingly cold gale here and using a pole was very hard work, and sun was by far from guaranteed and only flashed out as the train neared this end of the viaduct.. but luckily the old adage, don't go = don't get couldn't be used, as I did go, and I got !

The outside west wall of the pet shop with the morning light backlighting it.

Two have one test train parked up in Holgate sidings rather choice. But to have two, now that's just cheeky.

ROG 37601 sits in no1 siding with one test train, whilst Colas' 37175 top and tails 37116 with a second in no3 siding in between duties.

The aerial view, 5Q65 Derby Litchurch Lane - Oxley crosses the Tame at Lea Marston. On the hottest day.

Earlier I described how the border impacted the railway Lipusz - Bytów. It's now time to show something from the border station itself.

Róg used to be the border station, where the line from Lipusz terminated. Its German name, which it had carried for the first 40 or so years of its existance, was Sonnenwalde (Kreis Bütow). The Polish name is way more compact and just means 'horn', or 'corner'.

It certainly is a nice corner in Kashubia. Surrounded by fields which are left after the local forests had been destroyed in 2017.

Currently it is very peaceful, as barely any trains pass throgh here. The station buildings have of course been repurposed and now live on as normal housing with gardens just like the one on the picture right on the trackside. The SM42-2622 right near it is passing the eastern side of the ex-border station as it's heading to Lipusz as a light engine for the second part of a loaded cement train for PREFABET in Osława-Dąbrowa. It is so peaceful here that you would never think that this once used to be a relatively important line with a very stormy history.

The Driver on ROG 37884 opens up departing Barassie yard with the Scotrail 318 EMU after run round here, working from Kilmarnock Bonnyton depot to Yorker. You can see the trailing points off the single line from Klmarnock to here then the facing points of the realinged track towards Troon which the Loco is just passing over. Passenger services from Kilmarnock to Ayr can no longer stop here due to the platform on the branch being taken out of use.. The main line from Glasgow to Ayr to the right of the picture.

Our friend Rog is disabled, stuck in a wheelchair and unable to cook. He depends on carers. He does not moan and is cheerful and good fun to spend time with. His garden though small is full of flowers and bees.

37800 is seen at Chevin approaching Milford tunnel working the 5Q65 0902 Doncaster Belmont Down Yard - Oxley Carriage Maintenance Depot, sadly running about 80 minutes late. It was dragging units 730036 & 730038 30/4/24. (Taken using a pole)

ROG 37884 Propels the Scotrail 318 EMU out of Platform 3 at Kilmarnock into Bonnyton depot for refubishing. No doubt the loco will be back in a month or so to take it back to Yorker depot. Nice to see a few enthusiasts on the platform!

On 06/09/22 a ROG operated 5E16 1016 Castle Donington EMDC-Gascoigne Wood was scheduled to run with mk111s for further storage. I wouldn't usually bother with the weather how it was, but when told it was 37901 and it was 7 mk111s, I thought I'd have a look. This is Stanton Gate where the old down yard has been cleared of vegetation, however there is a lamp post that cuts the loco in half, which I have removed in photoshop.

First bit of Sleet and Snow of the Winter and ROG 37800 stands in the down Siding at Manningtree. It did not last long and turned to Rain with the sun out at 1200am.

ROG's 37884 "Cepheus" and 37800 "Cassiopeia" head up the Amber Valley with the 10:22 Crewe SY to Attercliffe Sdgs with a train consisting of 15 JHA wagons belonging to ARC for scrapping.
