On 26/02/24 my path to bed after work was delayed by trying my luck for 5R56 0852 Derby RTC-Castle Donington PRDC sidings operated by ROG 37884 & 37800 with 4 coaches for store. The wind was blowing a bitingly cold gale here and using a pole was very hard work, and sun was by far from guaranteed and only flashed out as the train neared this end of the viaduct.. but luckily the old adage, don't go = don't get couldn't be used, as I did go, and I got !

This was a bit of a rush job after getting stuck in 2 traffic jams so we just made it with only a couple of minutes to get the pole up .

Our friend Rog is disabled, stuck in a wheelchair and unable to cook. He depends on carers. He does not moan and is cheerful and good fun to spend time with. His garden though small is full of flowers and bees.

Rail Operations Group Class 47s, Nos.47815 and 47848 are pictured approaching the assembled gallery at Shepreth (between Cambridge and Royston) whilst in charge of 6T02, the 11:23 Barrington - Wembley EFOC empty aggregate service.
This service has thrown up all sorts of classic traction over the last few weeks, sadly this is rumoured to be ending shortly as it is anticipated that Freightliner will take over the flow.

The "Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins" is the main railway station of Limoges. It was named Bénédictins due to the presence of a Benedictine monastery closed during the French Revolution. The first railway line was opened in the 1850s, the wooden station got replaced by a stone-building in 1860. In 1918 an agreement was signed regarding the construction of a new station. Work lasted from 1924 and 1929.
The station, a kind of temple of a new age, was designed by architect Roger Gonthier.

These band tail pigeons have gotta go; they're eating me outa house and home. Shortly after I took this shot, they had drained the seeds in the feeder down to well below the the top feeding hole. In the meantime, all the finches and other little birds are flitting around in the trees, hoping there will be some food left after the pigeons finally finish gorging themselves. Even the squirrels had to wait their turn. We've always figured all birds and critters are welcome to come and enjoy the feast, but these big band tails are just a bit too much.
The train consisted of two barrier vehicles and nine former Cross Country MKIII HST Carriages, for export.

ROG 47812 stands in the down sidings at Manningtree number 1 end leading, with the missing roof mounted radiator shutter . Cooler group defects were one of the main reasons for the chronic availability of many BR Diesels in the 1960s/70s A good example was the Western Region class 52 Westerns. 1036 Western Emperor was tested and the temperature was found to be between 110c and 135 c when it should have been 91/92c Temperature settings were obviously unreliable. Is it any wonder cylinder heads fractured.
With the news that this move was load 15 TPE MK5's I thought long and hard for a location where the whole consist might be in view.
I have been to Saddleworth Viaduct recently and even that location might not contain them. Well, in the end I did the easy thing and caught the train to Oxford Road ... and was done by a rampant Buddleia bush!
* Its not far off being a sighting problem so I suppose Network Rail will 'have' to do something about it.
