Peyto Lake, Banff National Park.
It was an overcast and rainy morning so we were able to bypass the main parking lot and head to an upper lot to reduce the amount of time of the hike to get to this spot off a small dirt trail. This rock outcropping is another 15-20min or so from the main viewpoint and the views are stunning from here. I met an Australian photographer at this spot and we swapped portraits of each other from a top of one of the rock ledges. This one is without either of us in it. I like how it shows the run off from the mountain snow through the rock and mud and into the lake. This glacial migration is considered rock flour. This was our second stop on the Icefields Parkway.
Experimenting in the macro world with a small cracked rock for Macro Mondays. I spent time at the river photographing cracks in large boulders and then found this small rock that came home with me.
Rock Purslane blossom. Native to Chile, rock purslane (Calandrinia spectabilis) produces masses of bright purple and pink, poppy-like blooms that attract bees and butterflies from spring until fall. Toxic to dogs.

This beautiful stone is a souvenir of a holiday on the Baltic Sea. Every day we ran with our heads down, our eyes fixed on the ground, along the beach and collected the most beautiful stones. The selection was not easy. We would all have liked to take home, so wonderful shapes and colors were there to find. They were real jewels. Some are still lying on my desk and keep the memory of the Baltic Sea vacation awake.
My last shot of the shoreline of Liland at the Lofoten Islands. I am impressed how much different kinds of stones come together at this place. I can't wait to come back in that fascinating area.

A composite shot of the Arch Rock in Valley of Fire. When I think of "Arch Rocks" I think huge geological structures created by the forces of nature over time. The Arch Rock in Valley of Fire State Park, is about 10 feet across. If you look for it near the sign, you may have difficulty finding it. It took me 3 visits to find it. I call it Secret Arch Rock.
When at Smith Rock most of the attention is paid to the 2 monoliths, where some climb the cliff or hike over on the Misery Trail. But there is also rugged beauty hiking along the escarpment along the Crooked River viewed here.
Excellent walks for any skill level.

May your Thursday be an easy walk.
The rock in the Moro bay is very impressive. This was taken at 360m of elevation after a beautiful climb on a loop ride from Pismo Beach. Even from far you can tell it's huge rock.

Drone image from this fall. It was an awesome fall color season this year, so I will try to bring some images out of my archives to share on occasion here. :D.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D

Though my body and my heart wither away, God will forever be the rock of my heart and my portion. psalm 73,26
I was up before sunrise and went for a wander from our BnB. The rock is probably one that was once pushed by a glacier but now makes a bold ah statement as a gatepost.
Have a good day.
Rock ptarmigan, Lagopus muta, kiiruna, Finland.
In Finland rock ptarmigans are found only in the highlands of Lapland. They live above the tree line year round and use plants and berries for food. In winter they take cover in the snow and can stay there most of the day. Quite tough birds, I would say.
OK, that is just a fancy title for the common pigeon. Common, but their plumage can be quite interesting, with a bit of iridescence in the mix. With the light being iffy for photography today, I decided to try something in Photoshop instead of driving around looking for critters or landscapes. This is a composite of 6 images (4 pigeon pics plus 2 for the background).
