Went down to Clayton Oklahoma with my brother a avid Jeeper to do some Jeep trails in the mountains. As you can see these trails are considerate a high moderate. We did have a few Jeps break drive shafts and bend tie rods but it was a blast.
Huntington Lake August Rock Crawl Sierra Nevada 7000' the vehicle with its back to us would typically be under water when the lake is full, down about 236 feet.
The guy in the TJ broke his winch the day before so I had to go get my Jeep and drive it down BFG Hill to pull him up over the rock he was stuck on. He could not go backwards without rolling his Jeep and he couldn't go forward anymore.
I realize people were standing close to the winch line but I did not notice it during the process as I was watching the TJ. Also I run synthetic line which generally doesn't store energy if it breaks so it's much safer than steel cable.
You'll see photos from Hunts Mesa, but here you get a taste of what the driving is like to get to the overlook of Monument Valley. Tully was the skilled driver. Great guide. I tried not to distract him when the driving was especially gnarly, but that happened quite often.
Again, this was Philips Photography tours, and in particular the Hunts Mesa Overnight tour. It's really a steal at the current price given that you:
A. Get fed dinner and breakfast.
B. Get to go to an amazing place
C. The driving alone to get there is about 4.5 hours round trip.
D. Your guide will be of great help and very willing to help you find amazing shots.
