Behold! The Macross Super Dimensional Fortress!

Robotech was the absolute best cartoon ever when I was a kid, and I've wanted to build this ship out of lego since back in the day. So as my first ever participation in Shiptember, the SDF-1 seemed like the perfect ship to fit the bill. plus I love making things that transform.

speaking of which, the modular transformation was quite a bit trickier than I expected it to be. Got a bit of a late start, and pretty much came down to the wire (especially with my Nikon battery running out of juice yesterday morning). But here she is! Fully transformable and highly articulated! Complete with destroid goodness!

This was commissioned as a custom set so the client will be receiving the parts and instructions to create this model.

The model is extremely sturdy and completely transformable. I'm really not a big fan of anime, but this model was extremely fun to build and very fun to play with.

Be sure to check out all the transformation modes:

A tiny Vertitech that was about the size of my palm, painted and detailed by JC Gunpla Anime Models.

The owner, JC wanted me to do a photo-shoot where the size of this guy wasn't obvious.

Basically a Battle Pod from Robotech

Part of my old Macross series of mocs made back around 2000 or so. I can't help but wonder, do you think if I gave this guy a monocle and a smoke stack he would qualify as steampunk?

A pair of Destroids from the Robotech/Marcoss Series, or 2 iconic Battlemechs from BattleTech:

LEFT: Warhammer/Tomahawk Equipped with a Pair of Heavy Cannons, Long Range Missiles and Searchlight

RIGHT: Rifleman/Defender Equipped with a Pair of Anti-Air Cannons, Radar array and Searchlights

(Rifleman/Defender build design originally by VitorFaria)

I've been dreaming of building a kickass Zentraedi ship for years but the organic style really kills me. So I gave up and just went with slopes...and I kinda dig it. Just wish I could afford some dark green bricks...

Bandai VF-1S Roy Fokker vs Regult. Hi Metal-R toy line. No panic, Roy!

Using Lego icecream/bubble missle contrails effect.

This is obviously photoshopped due to Tread being too small. Even if I bumped up Tread by about 40% to match Legioss, limb and connection joints won't be able to hold anyway =P

Model of a Macross Zentraedi Tactical Pod Glaug made with LEGO and love. Do you remember love?

The SF-3A Lancer II is a general-purpose space fighter designed for service aboard the space carrier ships of the U.N. Spacy. Armed with two large cannons, long-range missile launchers, nose mounted targeting scanner and a Doppler radar system, the Lancer II is well suited to battling at long distances typical in space.

Height: 5.9 ft (1.8 m) with radar.

Width: 3.6 ft (1.1 m).

Length: 24.9 ft (7.6 m) without cannons, 50.5 ft (15.4 m) with cannons.

Weight: 9.3 metric tons empty.

Notes:

This iconic looking fighter intrigued me from the moment I saw it in "Macross: Do You Remember Love". It only had airtime for a couple of seconds and any information on the ship, especially a definitive design, is hard to come by, making this an obscure delight. I based my build on resin model interpretations of the fighter, whilst taking some small liberties with the design. Overall I think it's very recognizable as the Lancer.

I've been playing with the idea of building this one out of lego for quite some time. I never got to it because I discouraged myself, thinking it was simply to difficult to get those gradual slopes right, let alone those very long cannons. But when I saw the white pin connector, I convinced myself that might actually work. Surprisingly, it was not the slope of the cockpit area, but the engines that gave me the most trouble. The fuselage, being so small and slender, gave me very little room to work with on those.

The Tomahawk from Macross, the Excaliber from Robotech, and the Warhammer from Battletech.

In fact, this is one of my older MOCs that I have built over two years ago. Some of you probably already know it from my Brickshelf gallery or Brothers-Brick. I have only reviewed some of the photos and they are now displayed in a slightly higher resolution.

For everyone who does not know it yet: this MOC is my favorite mecha from the Classic BattleTech series...in fact it is a Robotech design, but in the beginning it was also used for Battletech until it became "unseen"...whatever...I love this 75 ton steel monster...even if it is made of plastic....

Built for multiple collaborations, but presented here for #cyberpink by @rigwalkermocs for breast cancer awareness month (Cheers for the invite bro!)

Iโ€™ve been working with @pyre_builds on a collaboration which started earlier this year. This mech will contribute to the armada which may be posted sometime next year??? I donโ€™t know Lots of fun is still to be had before we post anything properly about it.

But with it being I had to punch out this pink little beasty alongside a bunch of other builders.

Ch-ch-changes. The left-most model is what I thought a Macross Glaug looked like in LEGO five years ago; The middle model is what I thought it looked like yesterday; The model on the right is what I think a LEGO mini-model of a Glaug looks like this morning.
