Submitted by the City of Geneva

RiverPark was created as a result of one letter from a concerned resident, and has blossomed into a two acre park that is a striking feature in the landscape of Geneva, Illinois. When concern arose over the effect a condominium development would have on the landscape of a portion of the Fox River front in Geneva, the City bought back the land and entrusted the development of RiverPark to a group of dedicated volunteers. With that, The RiverPark Committee was formed and fund raising began, with the committee raising more than $750,000 over the course of seven years.

Volunteers held workdays on Saturdays during the summer of 2002 and logged over 8,000 hours to complete building the first phase of the park which included a trellis, stone work, plantings, amphitheater base, and a railing created by a local artist. The second phase of construction started the following summer and included a Geneva history wall, prairie plants, and a bike trail. It was a place for residents to gather not only to work on the park, but to meet one another and spend time as a community.

RiverPark was officially dedicated on June 9, 2007, and today stands as a representation of what a group of dedicated citizens can do with determination and vision. RiverPark is a favorite place for residents of Geneva because it is host to community events such as movie nights, concerts, and theater in addition to being an outside space that is a reflection of the character and spirit of Geneva.

The City of Geneva is located on the Metra Union Pacific West Line.

*This was quite easily the best Restaurant Week Dinner ever!!! There were at least 8 dishes in each course for you to select from and believe me, it was a tough choice cos I wanted to try everything. Riverpark is a bit off the beaten path in that it is way east, but it is well worth the trek. I enjoyed every bite, the service/hospitality was impeccable and I would definitely dine here again!
