The Elbphilharmonie, an extraordinary building involving glass, curves and crevices all standing tall on the solid red brick foundation of a former docklands warehouse compliments the maritime heritage of this stunning German city.
Windsor, Ontario’s riverfront has many parks, with lots of room for social distance strolling. But, this photograph is actually from almost a year ago, long before the nasty virus appeared in our world. The walker was enjoying a sunset stroll along the Detroit River, with downtown Detroit in the background.
The Columbia and its tributaries have been central to the region's culture and economy for thousands of years. They have been used for transportation since ancient times, linking the many cultural groups of the region. The river system hosts many species of anadromous fish, which migrate between freshwater habitats and the saline waters of the Pacific Ocean. These fish—especially the salmon species—provided the core subsistence for native peoples.
"Riverfront Park is a public park in downtown Spokane, Washington. The 100 acre park is located along the Spokane River containing the upper Spokane Falls and just upstream from the lower falls. It was created for Expo '74, a World's Fair event. The defining feature of the park is the Pavilion, which is marked by a 145-foot-tall (44 m) metal frame and wire shell that formed the US Pavilion tent during Expo '74. The park is well known for the Riverfront Park Carousel, as well as an IMAX theatre, clock tower, skyride over the falls, a small amusement park for kids, a skating rink during the winter months (home to the Gonzaga Bulldogs hockey team), and the Spokane River Centennial Trail which passes through it." re Wiki

Riverside Drive winds it’s way along the banks of the Detroit River with many beautiful parks along the river’s edge. Windsor, Ontario’s ‘gold coast’ is found on Riverside Drive where residents of homes, condos and apartments pay a premium for the stunning riverfront views.
Here is a slightly different night time perspective of the old rail car loading dock on Windsor, Ontario’s riverfront with downtown Detroit in the background. Up until the 1980’s most of downtown Windsor’s riverfront was covered in rail tracks with three docks available to load box cars onto ferries. The city of Windsor was able to buy up the riverfront land and convert it into 5 km (3 miles) of open parkland. Two of the loading docks remain as a reminder of our past railroad riverfront.
Love getting to the river at sunrise... especially when the tidal bore comes up the river and fills it with water... twice a day.
** On our journey back from Provence to Northern France we spent a night in Vienne that is situated on the River Rhone just south of Lyon. We visited the town to see its Roman remains which were extraordinary. The riverfront of the town was also rather attractive as seen from the left bank of the river

Two bridges that cross the Missouri River along the riverfront trail.
Taken the same morning as my image of the light poles that stretched to the Kit Bond Bridge just a few posts ago. This part of the city has blossomed into a vibrant 20's something area.

Over the years I have been impressed by the panoramas posted by photographers in Flickr. The posts of Lou from Maine (my original home state) come to mind. The other night I decided to experiment with my iPhone and ended with mixed results. I thought that this sunset view came out well and decided to share it.
After the snowstorm that ended mid Saturday morning I walked along the riverfront. My primary motivation was to buy more coffee beans, but I couldn't resist taking a few photos of the storm's aftermath. The shots in this trio have a "farview" focus.
This view is of the start of South Pier and was taken from the walkway of the 8th Street bridge.
