There are many wonderful spots to enjoy a sunrise or sunset on Windsor, Ontario’s riverfront. One continuous park stretches for 5 kilometres along the shore of the southeast side of the Detroit River, including this great walkway that juts several metres out into the river.

A 350 mile journey begins with one step.

Saturday night William McIntosh and I made some plans to head up to Julia Pfeiffer State Beach to photograph Keyhole Arch during the winter solstice. During the winter solstice the sun lines up through the arch and has produced some magical captures and is a popular destination for many photographers. The following morning Bill called at 7:30am and said that the weather had turned up north and we decided to head the other direction towards the southwest, After spending a half hour looking at the radar and Skyfire we decided to head to a spot 6 hours away just past Phoenix Arizona to the Salt River Bend.

As we traveled, the weather started clearing more and more and by the time we got on location the clouds almost cleared out of the sky completely but luckily as the sun dipped to the horizon we did catch some last minute color in the sky.

This is an 8 image panorama stitched together in Lightroom and in an effort of full disclosure, was unhappy with the size of the moon when shooting at 11mm so I had the presence of mind to grab the longest lens in my bag at the time, a 24-105mm and snapped a second shot of the moon and replaced the tiny moon in the original composition with the one shot with the longer lens. I know some people object to this but I'm trying to sell prints here people. LOL :)

Low winds and some clouds around with distant thunderstorms to come through later in the night ... gave me a chance to get out and walk a little at sunset and explore along the river.

Stay safe everyone.

Went down to visit my Dad and catch the sunset along Middle River. The clouds were basically just over Baltimore. Checking the radar before sunset showed a band of clouds about 20 miles wide pushing over the area with no clouds to the east or west ... so rushed down about 20 minutes before sunset to catch the light here as I arrived.

A pretty ending here on the cool October evening.

The River Clyde (Scottish Gaelic: Abhainn Chluaidh, pronounced [avɪɲ ˈxlˠ̪uəj], Scots: Watter o Clyde) is a river, that flows into the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. It is the eighth-longest river in the United Kingdom, and the second-longest in Scotland. Traveling through the major city of Glasgow, it was an important river for shipbuilding and trade in the British Empire.

Mistaya Canyon in Banff National Park is a scenic gem on the Icefields Parkway. Sculpted by the rushing water of the Mistaya River, which originates from Peyto Lake to the southeast, this deep slot canyon features curvy limestone walls and eroded pothole depressions. One of my many stops along the Icefields Parkway that connects Banff to Jasper NP in Alberta, Canada. Many signs about telling people that there are sheer drop-offs and certain death is imminent. I took quite a few from different angles. It's hard to explain how curvy the gorge is below these falls as it deepens substantially below the frame here. I shot this early in the morning with just a few lingering about. I did manage to capture one gentleman getting out fairly far onto the rocks. Stay Tuned.

A few weeks back, on what started out as a misty morning, I decided I'd rush up to London to see if I could take advantage of the mist for some architectural photography. Well, I'm not really someone that is very good at rushing anywhere and so it goes without saying that by the time I got into London the mist had all but gone. There is very slight evidence of it here in the distant Canary Wharf architecture on the right and those buildings on the left but that was about as much mist as I got that morning. The view here is of the HMS Belfast, a second world war Royal Navy warship permanently moored in the Thames as a tourist attraction. In the background of course the always photogenic Tower Bridge.

The climb down to the river level was quite steep and not easy ... no real 'trail' ... but I think it was worth it. That rock there in the flow was about the size of a large car.

Not been out with my camera for some time, so i'm a bit rusty.

Today I was lucky in two regards. One, Linda was kind enough to grab me and show me where there was a river otter taking a siesta. Second, it tolerated my presence and let me get some nice closeup shots. I've posted my favorite. Thanks Linda!

The River Wharfe flowing quietly down Wharfedale between Starbotton and Kettlewell. The stone barn is typical of remote barns found in the fields throughout the dales.

The section from the river's source to around Addingham which includes this location is known as Upper Wharfedale and lies in North Yorkshire and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The first 15 miles or so is known as Langstrothdale, including the settlements of Beckermonds, Yockenthwaite and Hubberholme, famous for its church, the resting place of the writer J. B. Priestley. As it turns southwards, the Wharfe then runs through a green and lush valley, characterised by limestone outcrops, such as Kilnsey Crag, and woodland, generally quite unusual in the Dales.

This track between Kettlewell and Buckden is part of the Dales Way Long Distance Footpath from Ilkley to Bowness on Windermere.

I was going up to my usual haunts when I spotted the hoar frost on the river banking. I had just read an article where the landscape photographer had said that he had missed some great landscape shots because he had had another place in mind to where he was determined to go. He now chases the light and that determines where he goes. I followed his advice and I am glad that I did. The reward was this good image and the one that I had in mind, who knows.
