The yellow flag warns of Rip Currents. It'll yank you out and send you a couple of hundered yards down the beach and the more your fight it, the less chance you have of surviving it. 14 didn't this past summer.
Some Flickr user named S. Sinclair has been ripping my pix off regularly - I have filed 4 Flickr DMCAs already and she slaps it back up on her feed. She claims she "found it on internet" - "She looked at my feed and I was obviously incapable of producing this work - and today claims I must have ripped it off as was too good for SL. My pix is my own and obviously older than her rip - Also I have other pix in same outfit in my feed. And I am wearing on my neck an item produced in SL I blogged for Eclipse Event. I dunno some days it just gets old...
Thank you Daisie for pointing this out to me

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for the kind notes during my absence, they mean a lot and are well appreciated. Just about a month ago my mom went into the hospital, she had been sick for the past few months and we were all very concerned. I drove down to Florida to be with her, my dad, brothers and sister. On 4 February 2022 she passed leaving behind 89 years of a beautiful life and fond memories. Along with helping my dad and spending time with my brothers and sister I've been going through the photo albums and slides, re-shooting the memories to make this collage and some slide shows. One I posted in the first comment, it's about 3 minutes with "Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. The funeral service was held last Saturday and I was going to drive back this week but looks like I'll be staying one more week.
BTW: In the lowest row, center of the center panel, I'm standing with my two brothers and mom, I'm the guy on the left with the camera.
Thanks again and will return soonest!
Late Summer along the Southern Outer Banks. A new day is greeted with the Red Rip Tide Warning Flag.
Thank you.....thank you for the gift of To Kill a Mockingbird.
I wanted to find a quote from it to put up here, but it was so full of them that it's impossible to select only one.
So, thank you for filling a young girl's head and heart with your simple wisdom, full of grace and the resounding ring of truth.
RIP.
Rip tides are strong sea currents which push away from the shore as a strong storm is near. They are formed by the strong winds pushing water towards the shore. Tropical cyclones' winds push waves up against the shoreline even if they are hundreds of miles away, so rip tide warnings are often the first indication of a nearby hurricane.
If caught in Rip tides do the following
1 Keep your feet on the bottom as much as possible.
2 Remain calm if a rip current begins to pull you away from shore.
3 Regain your footing if possible.
4 Call for help immediately if you can't swim well.
5 Swim parallel to shore to get out of the current.
6 Swim toward the shore once you escape the current.
I feel so sad about the news that Chuck ~~Chuck's~~Photos~~ passed away last night. He was an active member and moderator of many groups and well known to so many members here.

I met Chuck here on Flickr over 12 years ago and considered him a very dear virtual friend. My most sincere condolences to his wife Brenda and the family. This is my personal tribute to him. ✝
It is with a very broken heart that I inform you that on October 29 our sweet, sweet Matteo passed away suddenly, cause unknown. As most of you know, my husband and I are out of town. My son is taking care of Theo and Matteo. When he returned home from work Saturday evening he found Matteo lying still on the floor. He rushed him to the emergency Vet but it was too late. Our sweet boy has passed on. He was too young.
Those of you who have beloved animals can understand how much a part of our family Matteo was. I don't know how Theo will cope without his brother. I don't know how any of us will cope in the short term.
Even though I spent a day taking photos in a very beautiful park up here, I don't know when I'll be back on. We will drive home and spend some time comforting each other until we can handle the loss.
I'm sorry to have posted such sad news here. But I've shared the boys with Flickr ever since they joined our family, so I felt you should all know. See you all again in the near future.

eGat my Alpha Cat has finally gave up his throne. But not to other male cats but to old age and illness. He died comfortably almost painless in his favorite box. RIP
Rest In Peace, Jeff. Jeff must have lived a rather humble life in the little community of Goodsprings, Nevada.

Hello loves,
So I decided to lose some hours of sleep yesterday and end up finishing this drawing today so I could say a proper goodbye to our dear Sulli. She will always remain in our memories and thoughts , her songs will forever live.. Idols are humans too..They have feelings too, they are not money machines to be used and left aside when not needed anymore.
If anyone wants the drawing without watermarking DM me :) <3 Hope everyone who feels heartbroken finds some peace in this little drawing I did.
RIP Sulli

Just heard the sad news that Fig 'The Queen of the Mara' has sadly passed away after an unprovoked attack from an alpha male Lion. We have fond memories of spending hours photographing Fig and her various cubs over the years, so future trips will not be the same without her. Patrick who has guided for us on many occasions witnessed the attack, along with several guests that were with him at the time, they are obviously distraught. All the guides and locals will feel that they have lost a member of their family.
