Getting ready to split and go our own ways !Great day of riding had been had !

What Lies Ahead

You lay your head to rest at night,

Like all, you think of tomorrow, next week.

You wonder what life holds in store,

You look out the window and down the street.

All seems still for the moment,

Until your nind once again decide to roam.

You think of the children, your life,

It took a lifetime for you to own.

For what is here today, could soon be gone,

We can’t predict what tomorrow will`bring our way,

For all the love and luxuries we now have,

Could all too easily before our eyes go astray.

Our jobs we`ve all worked at through life,

Our family, our homes we have had for so long

All too easily destroyed and gone in a moment,

We ponder in thought again, what has gone wrong.

The sky appears to be dark and grey,

Yet a glimer of light still radiates through,

For we can survive if planned ahead,

Making right preparations, both me & you.

House of Souls Rideout

I was awake early, this morning so a swift cuppa in bed and then out for an early morning rideout. Surprisingly, it wasn't too muddy so I ventured all the way through Newstead Abbey Park and up onto the top of Newstead pit tip. I sat up there for about twenty minutes, reflecting on the world before heading back home. Just over nine miles and only three other humans!

Last Friday's rideout took me onto several stretches of woodland trail that I hadn't been on before. Cauldwell Brook and Stonehills Plantation were pretty interesting and I hadn't realised just how big Two Oaks Quarry (Coxmoor Road) had become.

A couple of phone pics from my rideout on Sunday morning. Boundary Wood incorporates what used to the the old pit tip at Blidworth, Nottinghamshire. Some excellent walking and cycling to be had, there.

In the stairwell of Northampton's Freemason's Hall - and no secret handshakes to get in either! Was there for an exam (which I buggered up)

*Exam Update - they lost my script!! I have to re-sit in January*

*Exam Update2 - I passed the resit (it's the least they could have done)*

This is Willem Bever.

He is the brother of Ed Bever in the children's tv-show De Fabeltjeskrant, which aired from 1968 until 1972.

The beaver-brothers are handymen in the tv-show and Ed is the more serious one and our Willem is the more romantic one; he also loves to garden.

Normally Willem lives with me, but when we go on our Sisters Ride Out, we take him with us as a mascot.

Willem originally comes from Rotterdam, like us, so he wears the colours of our favourite football club.

Feyenoord.

I am always sitting on the back of the Suzuki Intruder, with Willem.

My other sister drives Yamaha XJ.

I took them both to motorcycle shows and races, when they were younger, but I am the only one without a motorcycle drivers-licence. So sad..

A few pics from Wednesday's autumnal rideout, taking in Burntstump Country Park, Calverton Pit Tip and Blidworth Wood. All pics snapped with the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Next up, my weekend rideout which, again, took me on several paths that I had not been on before. It took me to Bean Ford, near Oxton. The last time I went through that ford (1990), it cost me £3500 for a new engine in my Primera!

Yesterday's rideout (not calling it "Lockdown" any more) was Newstead and Linby tips, then home via Papplewick Hall. I am playing with my new camera, a Fujifilm X100V. Having a lot of fun with it, too! This one was taken using the pano facility on the X100V. It takes something like 80 frames in around 5 seconds, as you pan the camera, and then stitches it all together, in-camera. Fiendishly clever!

Annan (Dumfires & Galloway) Riding of the Marches

The Marches or boundaries of Annan have been ridden since the town was created a Royal Burgh more than 600 years ago.

Each year in early July more than one hundred horsemen and horsewomen Ride the Marches to ensure that the landmarks, cairns and other features have not been removed or tampered with.

This morning's rideout took me past Papplewick Pumping Station, a restored and magnificent working steam pumping house, only a couple of miles from home. As is the norm, these days, I had the DJI Mini 2 (drone) in my backpack so decided to catch a few shots whilst the sun was out.
