In Bangladesh, the rickshawpullers usually use their hand to signal a turn, or at times the passenger is asked to do so. Today morning, it was raining, and this is how the passenger signalled a right turn.

You don't remember me, do you?
You quarreled with me for 2 taka this morning..
12 taka was too much for carrying you 2 miles..
The day of Hell is over, God..
But Your Shower of Blessing can't calm the fire inside..
Can't it wash the everlasting agony from my face.
"At least sometimes, let us give the rickshaw pullers 2 taka more than their requested fare."
Moment captured in Dhaka, 11th May. Dhaka received a huge Rain Shower after several days of scorching heat.
A cactus (plural cacti, cactuses, or less commonly, cactus) is a member of the plant family Cactaceae, a family comprising about 127 genera with some 1750 known species of the order Caryophyllales. The word "cactus" derives, through Latin, from the Ancient Greek κάκτος, kaktos, a name originally used by Theophrastus for a spiny plant whose identity is now not certain. Cacti occur in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Most cacti live in habitats subject to at least some drought. Many live in extremely dry environments, even being found in the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on earth. Cacti show many adaptations to conserve water. Almost all cacti are succulents, meaning they have thickened, fleshy parts adapted to store water. Unlike many other succulents, the stem is the only part of most cacti where this vital process takes place. Most species of cacti have lost true leaves, retaining only spines, which are highly modified leaves. As well as defending against herbivores, spines help prevent water loss by reducing air flow close to the cactus and providing some shade. In the absence of leaves, enlarged stems carry out photosynthesis. Cacti are native to the Americas, ranging from Patagonia in the south to parts of western Canada in the north—except for Rhipsalis baccifera, which also grows in Africa and Sri Lanka.
I have always observed that the life of a rickshaw-puller is very tough. It takes lot of power to pull people on the rickshaw (I had tried one many years back) and in absence of good diet, it becomes even more difficult, making them prone to diseases. A big share of their earning goes for paying the rent for the rickshaw and they end up sleeping on the roadside to save some money to send to their families back home.
Please be considerate to them.
He was once a rickshawpuller, but due to a couple of accidents and the resultant back problem he had to change his profession. He usually stands outside schools and colleges but they have started to close down for winter holidays.
Currently he sells these road snacks right outside the slum he lives in.

Everyone was tensed about the incoming cyclone Roanu, but bangladeshis are resillient and can smile through anything.

Thank you for smoking!
A rickshawpuller by profession,he admitted that smoking is a bad habit, but he said it gives him some moments of pleasure, and that is rare in his long day at work.
Living in a big city all by himself, far away from his parents who still live in his village hometown can't be all that easy.

Only the headless can stay exposed to the public all day long. Society calls them mad or a lunatic, or perhaps accuse him of being a self-objectifier. Anyway, I think it would be pure magic if someone could do this without losing either their heart or their head.
She lives in a slum near Hillview H/S, Chittagong which has 'caught' fire twice in the past year. Both incidents were assumed to be initiated so that these people move away from that piece of land.
Her father is a rickshawpuller, while her elder sisters work in the garments factory. She takes care of her younger brother at home, and while he was asleep, she was out picking dry leaves which they would later use for cooking.
Sometimes I wonder how brave this people are, they are so unsure about their future, but still they keep living, with some hope and dream.

All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today.

It was an amusing sight where this guy was relaxing on the pile of dump being ported by another on his ricksaw. I could not resist but take out my camera and click while driving down to my workplace today. Seen at Mahipalpur, south Delhi.
Today at very early morning i met this very young rickshaw puller . He told me about his life:
"I lost my father in my early childhood. we lived in Norshindi ( A district of Bangladesh ) . My mother is blind . I have been working from my childhood. In early days in Norshindi i worked for a company. I drove their rickshaw. It is just one month i shifted in Dhaka. My life has changed after shifting here in Dhaka. Here i built a little house. I have to pay 150 taka for the electricity and water. Everyday i rent a rickshaw and work the whole day.I earn 200-300 taka every day. I want to get treatment for my mother . Doctors said my mother can be cured with proper treatment and can see normally. For the treatment i need money . I'm happy about my recent life. I do not have any complain about life. "

It's my income, my living is in it.
It's my home, my rest is in it, too.
God, forgive this tiredness of mine.
Even a rickshaw puller like me needs to stop sometimes.

A joint, which is also commonly referred to as a spliff (which can also mean specifically a joint that has tobacco mixed with cannabis), is a rolled cannabis cigarette. Unlike commercial tobacco cigarettes, the user ordinarily hand-rolls joints with rolling papers, though in some cases they are machine-rolled. Rolling papers are the most common rolling medium in industrialized countries; however, brown paper, cigarettes or beedies with the tobacco removed, receipts and paper napkin can also be used, particularly in developing countries. Modern papers are manufactured in a range of sizes from a wide variety of materials including rice, hemp, and flax, and are also available in liquorice and other flavoured varieties.

-life is not a packet of sweets for all especially if that person is a rickshaw puller in Calcutta! Almost all of these middle-aged men migrated from neighboring Bihar state and struggle hard for their livelihood. Undoubtedly, they belong to the lowest income class in this metro city and combat dense for earning 4-5 dollar a day!

Mother, you come to my mind...
In every thrust of my feet on the paddle.
In every inch of distance I cross.
Why did you bring me in this world, mother?
Where every single penny has to be earned in exchange of thousand drops of sweat....
Captured from Dhamrai, Bangladesh. A tired, sweating rickshaw puller after completing his job. The pendant hanging from his neck is a bangla word "Maa"....which means "Mother".
I offered him 5 taka more in addition to the regular fare. He refused to take it.
