The rice fields in September.Cina. September / October 2018.

From Wikipedia

Lóngjǐ are located in Longsheng County, about 100 kilometres from Guilin, Guangxi, China.

The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top, between 600 to 800 metres (2,000 to 2,600 ft) above sea level.[1] A coiling terrace line that starts from the mountain foot up to the mountain top divides the mountain into layers of water in spring, layers of green rice shoots in summer, layers of rice in fall, and layers of frost in winter. The terraced fields were mostly built about 650 years ago.

Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Terraced Rice Fields received their name because the rice terraces resemble a dragon's scales, while the summit of the mountain range looks like the backbone of the dragon.

In early June, water is pumped over the rice paddies and young plants are transferred to the main terraces.

A traditional bamboo rice drying rack (haza) photographed near a Japanese village, Kamiyama, Shikoku Island, Japan. Previously these racks of rice drying in the sun were a common sight in Japan, but now rice is harvested by machine. Hanging the ears of rice on racks in the sun dried the rice grains more gradually, with less cracking of the grains and more flavourful, better-tasting rice.

It's all about rice

No matter how many beautiful views we visit, or what shopping malls we enter.

Even in Venice was found in Manila, (and believe us, it is...soon to be seen on this stream) it does not matter.

It's not even how many beautiful people we encounter. In the Philippines it is all about one thing, and the only thing that is really important in the Phils.

It's all about rice.

To close out a trip I took to Wisconsin and Minnesota in 2021, I had to make the effort to shoot the old interlocking tower south of Rice Lake, WI. Built in 1916 and closed since 1942, the old Soo Line tower still stands. Its former owner's track was removed in 1990 and the former CSt.PM&O, or Omaha Road, track that remains sees only a local train from Cameron a few times each week. I'm amazed its lasted as long as it has considering 32 years with no purpose had passed when I visited. Its seclusion has probably helped save it from being demolished, and I'm thankful for that.

This is a view on Selogriyo Valley, where the local people mastered the cultivation of many different kinds of plants on their rice terraces. Jamal, our guide, knew amazingly much about the farmers and the plants. He can be found in the picture too.

I can't for the life of me imagine why these incredible patterns were made by rice harvesting machines in this field with no obstacles. But I'm very happy they are there for all of us to enjoy.

on the day I forgot to push the cook button on the rice cooker

.. i truly understands the meaning of it while staring down at the forever-lighted "cook" button waiting for the rice to be cooked

Every morning I try to get out at sunrise to walk around and take pictures. I saw this lady out in the rice fields with a few other workers, cutting (harvesting) the rice. I've never seen rice growing, I thought it was all kind of cool. I was especially happy that this lady was cooperative about having her picture taken; many people anywhere are shy about that. I really love this one a lot. What do you think? I was thinking I might enter it into the travel category of a photo contest. The early morning light really helped this one. I got a few others of her that I wish I could upload, but later.

btw, the detail on this is fantastic, view large if possible and check out the texture on the fabric.

I'm not sure this guy actually farms anymore but, he does make an appearance when the tourist busses come so he is a working model and of course compensated for his work :)
