Rice paddies below one of Shanghai's main power supply routes.
The power lines are actually the reason that there are still some rice paddies, below the line no construction is allowed, for obvious reasons...

Outside Asia, Madagascar has the longest history of rice production. Wetland rice production systems are well developed and rice terraces are frequently found along the roads between Antananarivo and Antsirabe. Rice cultivation is found in almost all districts of the country.
A change of country for the next set. In December 2018 we visited the island of Bali for our Christmas holidays.
Terraced rice paddies are a common sight throughout Bali.

On the way between Da Nang and Hue, these rice paddies were flooded by heavy rains that came after the rainy season normally ends. Across the fields you can see a church, probably Catholic, and a school. About 10% of the population is Christian, mostly Catholic, from French colonial days.
Only once a year do the rice fields allow for some reflections. Problem is trying to find locations.
. . . The view from the corner of Rice Road and Seeley Road this morning, just north of Kalkaska. The colors are spotty, with some trees bare, and others mostly green yet!
The weather today is also spotty, with sunshine, dark clouds, sprinkles, a brief downpour, and then repeat as needed!
