The art installation in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi is a permanent public work titled Intervento per Piazza Verdi, created by the internationally renowned French conceptual artist Daniel Buren.

Completed in early 2017 as part of a major architectural and artistic redevelopment of the square led by architect Gianantonio Vannetti, the installation completely transformed the space into a pedestrianized urban living room.

Key Elements of the Installation:

• The Colored Arches: The installation features a rhythmic succession of large, flat, geometric portals or arches spanning a central pedestrian walkway. They are painted in alternating vivid primary and complementary colors, interspersed with Buren’s signature vertical white-and-black stripes.

• Mirrors and Perspectives: Many of the arches incorporate mirrored surfaces, creating a playful interplay of reflections that constantly reframe the surrounding architecture as you walk through them.

• Night Lighting: At sunset, the entire installation shifts character. Colored LED lights built directly into the base of the arches illuminate the structures from below, turning the square into a dynamic, glowing light path.
