… Église de la Madeleine looks better in that frame than it does in reality. May be not as pompous as the British Museum, but a close second.
Die Gothic Revival von einer romantischen Sehnsucht nach einer nicht mehr zurückzuholenden Vergangenheit geprägt.

Saturday morning spent with some fleeting sunlight in a Sussex bluebells woodland. This shot was taken when a cloud bank covered the sun. Was quite refreshing to shoot without direct light for a change.

On our way from Nelson to Kelowna, we came across a section of forest previously devestated by fire, the area seemed to be on track to recovery with the green coming back.

An English Heritage Building built around 1750-60. It was never a real chapel but probably used as a summerhouse. Roughcast brick; plain tile roofs. Gothic revival building in the form of a church with cylindrical west tower and 2-bay 'nave'. Tower has 3 pointed windows with cast iron frames, each side of the nave has a panelled and nail studded door with 4-centred arch, and a mural cupboard with acutely pointed arch and boarded door; full-height pointed eastern entrance with double door, nail studded and formerly half-glazed. Pointed arch to apsidal chamber within the tower.
Erected in memory of William Shenstone who worked on the landscaping of the grounds during the 1750s and 60s.

How did your weekend go? Despite the bad weather predictions we decided to roll the dice and hit the shore yesterday. That short window of time when the sun was blasting golden light on to the city was worth the fact that we needed to get up at 4 am. I decided to go with long exposure and use the water and cloud texture to emphasize the city. What do you think?
33-35 Eastcheap is a gothic revival building designed by architect Robert Lewis Roumieu and built in 1868. Behind it stands the Walkie Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street), designed by Rafael Viñoly.
This was a real heartbreaker. Located just outside of Mottville, Michigan, it stood by the side of the road for many years. I went that way about once a year and subsequently photographed the miniature Greek Revival several times. I especially liked the cornice returns seen here, The generous proportions are unusual in that the relief is done in brick rather than wood trim and then painted to blend with the rest of the trim. This treatment was not uncommon in this area with Italianate buildings.
Then one day I went by it was gone, a bulldozer still burying the bricks and a fire in progress to torch the remains of this early gem, along with all the trees that surrounded it..

The last time I hiked to this river it was completely dry. Finally after 2 months of drought the rivers were revived with inches of rain and melting snow. It was nice to visit and be able to shoot long exposure again :)
This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Grunge Revival. Things were pretty Grungey around here! HMMM!

One does not need to clean up after a storm. This fallen tree is even more beautiful than the original: when branches become trees!
This is a photo from last month- finally had time between exams to finish editing it. Im so glad I was able to get to this waterfall again before the rain makes it impossible to get to. Looking forward to foggy mornings this November.

Mrs. Sam Houston House is a historic house on Farm to Market Road 390 in Independence, Texas. Sometimes known as the Root house, this Greek Revival house was built probably around 1855. Margaret Lea Houston, the widow of politician and Texas statesman Sam Houston, bought the house in 1864 from Major Eber Cave, a family friend. She lived in it during her final years until her death in 1867. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
