I tried doing a panorama of Arlington Memorial Amphitheater again this year after hiking in DC. Coming here is like going back in time ;)

Die Gothic Revival von einer romantischen Sehnsucht nach einer nicht mehr zurückzuholenden Vergangenheit geprägt.

Bringing each other life ♥

Saturday morning spent with some fleeting sunlight in a Sussex bluebells woodland. This shot was taken when a cloud bank covered the sun. Was quite refreshing to shoot without direct light for a change.

The Aura of a new day peeks over the dunes along the Southern Outer Banks. thanks for the look and have a nice Sunday.

A nighttime view of the Texas State Capitol in Austin. This photo shows the front entrance, which faces south toward the heart of Austin down Congress Ave. The capitol building was designed by Elijah E. Myers in Italian Renaissance Revival style, and was constructed between 1882 to 1888. At 308 ft. it is taller than the United States Capitol, and is the sixth tallest state capitol building in the United States. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

As I watched this landscape transform in front of me it reminded me of a great revival, when we rise from the darkness into the light.

Came across this architectural beauty a few weeks ago about a mile from a great abandoned house and farm I visited. I'm not sure the style, perhaps colonial with some federal elements perhaps? All I know,is that its good to see the time, care, and money that has been put into this beauty in rural northern Illinois...

I got some info on this wonderful old house from an Instagram contact. It is called "Everlasting House" and was built in 1860-67.It took so long to build because of the large stone blocks that had to be hauled to the site. It was rumored to be a part of the Underground Railroad, with the cupola used as a lookout...

The divisions of one into many are caused by light and shade,

and if we looked keenly into life,

both within and without,

we should realize clearly that it is one life,

one light,

which appears divided and made into many by different shades.

This was a real heartbreaker. Located just outside of Mottville, Michigan, it stood by the side of the road for many years. I went that way about once a year and subsequently photographed the miniature Greek Revival several times. I especially liked the cornice returns seen here, The generous proportions are unusual in that the relief is done in brick rather than wood trim and then painted to blend with the rest of the trim. This treatment was not uncommon in this area with Italianate buildings.

Then one day I went by it was gone, a bulldozer still burying the bricks and a fire in progress to torch the remains of this early gem, along with all the trees that surrounded it..

No. As you know, dolphins can corrugate their skin when they encounter turbulent water in order to lessen the effect of that turbulence on their speed; an increase in streamlining, if you will. Apparently shark skin is also corrugated, if you look at it through a microscope, giving the animal similar benefits.

There is, however, some debate over the reason why the skin of this 1934 Junkers Ju52 is corrugated, with one faction firmly in the streamlining camp, one in the added-strength camp, and one straddling the two ideas.

For my part, I like to think that it is perhaps a little bit about streamlining and strength, but actually it’s more about aesthetics: it just looks fabulous, made all the more so by the way the fabricators have fluted the ends of the corrugations around the little window, making the aeroplane look fast even when it’s standing still.

The last time I hiked to this river it was completely dry. Finally after 2 months of drought the rivers were revived with inches of rain and melting snow. It was nice to visit and be able to shoot long exposure again :)

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Grunge Revival. Things were pretty Grungey around here! HMMM!
