The expression” armed forces push-up”might raise a photo of some remarkably difficult type of a currently requiring(however satisfying) workout. Exactly how does an army push-up vary from a normal country American push-up? Not as high as you may believe.

So presume the placement as...

A Roman silver coin known as a Denarius, produced during the reign of Emperor Galba, 68- 69 AD.

Galba was Roman Emperor for just 7 months in 68- 69AD, following the death of Emperor Nero. He was the first in the "Year of Four Emperors", a period of intense instability in which four different emperors held the title in the course of a year. The period ended with Vespasian rising to power.

The coin's obverse features a bust of Galba looking right, he is wearing a laurel wreath upon his head and there is a small globe below his neck.

The reverse is well worn but features the goddess Roma advancing, holding the goddess Victory and a transverse spear in either hand.

The Denarius was the standard silver Roman coin, in use throughout much of the period of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, being used from roughly 211 BC to 244 AD.

The coin was donated to Lichfield's collection by the South Staffordshire Archaeological and Historical Society, and was likely to have been unearthed during their excavations at the Roman site of Letocetum, present day Wall, in 1961 - 63.

Seen here with both cowlings open, the aircraft was about to be reversed into Manchester's Engine Test Bay for engine runs.

This aircraft was delivered to ILFC International Lease Finance Corp as N161LF in early Jun-95. It was transferred to ILFC Ireland Ltd as EI-CLU in mid Jun-95 and leased to Transaero Airlines, Russia.

It was re-registered N751LF when the lease was transferred back to ILFC in Jan-98. the lease to Transaero continued until the aircraft was returned to the lessor in Jan-99 and parked at Moscow-Sheremetyevo, Russia.

It was ferried to Manchester UK in Transaero basic livery in early Feb-99 and leased to Flying Colours Airlines as G-FCLH in mid Feb-99. It was parked at Manchester, still as N751LF, until it was ferried to Southend, UK for repainting in early Mar-99.

In mid Mar-99, while taxiing for for it's departure back to Manchester, it ran off the taxiway at Southend and was stuck in soft ground. It was pulled out, washed down and checked over before leaving for Manchester later the day!

Flying Colours merged with the 2nd Caledonian Airways to form 'jmc AIR' in Mar-00. While the name, and livery, was an advertising man's dream ('jmc' was the initials of Thomas Cook's Son), the travelling British public had no idea what the airline name meant and it became Thomas Cook Airlines in Apr-03.

The aircraft returned to ILFC in Apr-13 and was sold to FedEx/Federal Express as N968FD later that month. It was ferried to Mobile-Downtown Airport, AL, USA in Apr-13 and stored before being converted to a full freighter with a main deck cargo door in Dec-13.

Now almost 30 years old, the aircraft continues in service. Updated 09-Apr-25.

A visit to Reverse Garbage at Woolongabba was recommended to me recently and I was not disappointed with my visit. The shop accepts goods which otherwise were headed for landfill. They sort and sell a surprising range of items which are popular for those whose skills extend to up cycling. My purchase is on the counter with the male staff member.

This ornament in the natural history series serves double duty representing "spice". I made a lino block print of a galic bulb onto ecru fabric and backed it with a textured cream frabric (the lines echoing the lines in garlic skin). The ornament is suspended by a translucent silver-white ribbon.
