How do you re-imagine yesterday’s symbol of war to tomorrow’s symbol of peace? –transforming an Ethos of Violence and a Nation of Neutrality to a Philosophy of Peace. Tracing a new life within the Aguada Fort Prison which has a heritage that is entangled in the complexities of colonization, religious intolerance, struggle to freedom and genocide; frames the objective of the thesis. The Fort and its prison are strategically built on the south western coast of India- Goa, by the Portuguese in the seventeenth century to protect an empire that was built on bigotries.Indo Arabian Nights will tie these narratives into a tale of resilience in which Goan and global communities not only withstand disaster, hatred, intolerance but re-emerge better and stronger than ever.
The thesis design will begin with addressing first places of contact, the edges. Interventions on fort prison will quantify its depth, viscosity, massiveness, and endlessness. The cutting, moving, pushing, slicing, of the existing edges are an attempt to generate soft edges (thresholds conditions) that are more resilient and have the capacity to reconfigure, reposition, adapt and grow with time. Interposition and inversion of prison’s inherent character will contribute to change in the edge condition itself and will further transform what the fort represents.

These three poles we reused to torture prisoners in the Gestapo cell blocks. Arms were tied behind the back and then pulled back and up over the poles to hang, dislocating the shoulders . For entertainment guards jiggled the bodies to increase pain.

Three it's a magic number
Yes it is, it's a magic number
Because two times three is six
And three times six is eighteen
And the eighteenth letter in the alphabet is R
We've got three R's we're going to talk about today
We've got to learn to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This bag I made from 2 tea towels and creamy accent fabric for the handles, bottom and sides. I didn't cut anything with this one, I let the tea towels overlap inside so when my swap partner goes to the farmers market, she can separate her bread/cheeses from the produce. :)
I'd been spending a lot of time tweaking the positioning of the Origin-8 gary bars, but came to the conclusion that there really isn't a way for me to arrange them so that they'd be comfortable on the ramps and the drops. So I pulled them and replaced them with another pair of Nitto B135s (there aren't that many rando-style bars out there, so it was pretty inevitable that I'd migrate back to the old reliable.)
This meant that I had to pull the cork tape off the gary bars so I could pull the levers and move them over, but Selev tape has a super-sticky glue on it, and removing that tape caused it to disintegrate. Fortunately, I'd saved the cork tape from the old B135s, and this tape (a no-name cork tape that I bought from Rivendell last spring) was still in wrappable condition, despite being wrecked a couple of times and being shellacked to within an inch of its life.
So the new bars have now got old tape, plugs & brake levers.

the people who live next to the landfill, like this person, collect garbage and reuse it - they make things to sell from the refuse in the landfill.

"were [sic] you will have access to an abundance of information to help you create a beautiful outdoor living area for your home. Landscaping is the practice of arranging flowers, plants, trees and garden accessories in an ornamental landscape for your outdoor living area."
Here at London Permaculture we prefer edible/productive landscaping and the use of design methods and tools.
With direction from arts and events coordinator, Jessica Corlett, participants learnt the surprisingly simple art of Amish toothbrush rug-making by reusing a retired toothbrush and waste textiles. We made our own rug making tool and mini rug, with no sewing required. Participants found out that rag rugs are a great way to reuse scrap fabric and are machine washable.
