You can see here that the piece on the left was dipped in the dye when it was dry and the one of the left was put in the dye bath after it had been soaked in water. I like both for different reasons.

One of the pinback button badge designs made by Zippy Pins, which is part of the Green Environment collection to build awareness for saving the earth's resources by doing things like living green, alternative energy (wind, hybrid, solar), supporting local farmers, recycle, reuse & reduce waste, think global & buy local, and everything else that will make the world a better place to live.

Although the subject matter is serious, some of the designs sayings are funny, clever, witty, humorous and sometimes irreverent - also available as magnets, zipper pulls and keychains.

Wallmart employees stamp our paper to say we have recycled plastic grocery bags. We get money for turning in the bags, and we help the environment by recycling the bags.

I made some reusable vinyl envelopes to send my altered envie swaps in.

I found this old canvas when I was looking for something else in my attic.

It was part of the Ada Lovelace series, but in the end I rejected it as too bland.

So, I have now decided to recyle it and as you can see I have pulled some of the motifs off the canvas and I have painted over the rest.

The first layer was black gesso, then dark red acrylic and a bronze acrylic layer on top.

It now awaits another layer of black acrylic.

I just love painting over stitching and fabric and seeing something new emerge.

Pacific View Elementary School was closed a number of years ago due to changing demographics in its coastal Encinitas neighborhood. It's been vacant - and deteriorating - ever since, as the school district and community debate the site's future.

Getting down Christmas décor from the attic, you will find old Christmas garlands you no longer use or because they have been cut into pieces over time or because they do not fit with modern Christmas decorations...

Do not throw it away, you can create quick and easy construction, small masterpieces... and you will be able to decorate the most modern home or donate to your friends, to charity bazaar...

Make a beautiful wreath by wrapping or sticking with silicone old Christmas garlands around a hoop base. Use Christmas ornaments to decorate them and make them unique.

Create a decorative garland with year numbers by sticking old garlands with silicone on cardboard.

Convert a paper lamp in impressive Christmas decoration by sticking silicone perimetrical old Christmas garlands.

Christmas decorations for Christmas tree: simply cut into pieces a garland and with little thin wire or silicone enter the circular shape and create ornaments for your Christmas tree.

More treasures from the attic.

My wedding dress!

It is now badly stained, and of course doesn't fit, so rather than transport it to the new house - and put it straight into the attic, I decided to cut it up and re-use pieces in some meaningful way.

It was a very emotional task, but I managed it and I've salvaged a quantity of useable fabric and trim.

Made from an orphan quilt block:)

this WAS a mini greenhouse that my DIL bought for me several years ago from Ikea. It Fell and broke and has been in my garage. I took it apart, cleaned and glued--only the ends were damaged and will reuse the three pieces to make a pentaptych in each one. Just have to decide which images to use. I think each one will have a different theme. Will sell them at the market. Any of you have ideas for the images?

those two are the teachers' bags

I used some vintage upholstery fabric from my fabric stash and made a cute reusable bag. I want to make more of these from the piles of fabric I have sitting in my studio.
