Photographs from Second Life

First of all I want to thank you all for all the comments, bloggage and support received this year. And most of all, to the awesome builders that inspired me and whom I've shamelessly ripped off. :) Truly a wonderful community I'm proud to be a part of.

Since I've started building in April, I've made a bit over 100 (bit of insanity there, for sure) builds (half of which are crap but that's a different story) so I've only featured my favorites here.

Happy holidays to you all!

CP 288 passes through Norma on the New Line with a lashup straight out of 2013, a Dual Flag SD40-2, a Non-Pac-man red bomb SD40-2, and a GP33ECO lead this train. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for another lashup like this on the C&M anytime soon.

The caption on these images are purely what John Wiltshire wrote on the 35mm slide mounts plus my own research into the locations. I therefore welcome any additional comments providing interesting information about the locomotives or the history of the location, line closure dates etc. Also please make caption links to other FLICKR images of the same location so we can all see how the locations have changed over time.

Due to recent unauthorised publication of my John Wiltshire images in a magazine. newspaper and two published books without payment I have to now make this statement.

This image is the copyright of © Peter Brabham; Any users, found to replicate, reproduce, circulate, distribute, download, manipulate or otherwise use my images without my written consent will be in breach of copyright laws. I will retrospectively claim £50 per print image if prior written authorisation for publication has not been sought. Please contact me at pete.brabham@ntlworld.com for permission to use any of my John Wiltshire photographs in hard copy publication. I will usually give permission free of charge to Heritage Railways and steam loco restoration project advertising, but profit making magazines and book authors must pay a reproduction fee. Authors should know the provenance of high quality digital images that they use.

Une année 2025 riche en observations, à l'année prochaine pour de nouvelles aventures.

Meilleurs vœux.

First and foremost, thank you all so very much for the wonderful support I've received from the community this year! Your comments, feedback, and time really do mean a lot to me.

2019 was a fun year for me in LEGO with a lot of firsts! I made some good connections with some other builders (please, message me at any time if you'd like to talk shop) and got more involved with my LUG, displaying my cars for the first time at an event.

The Tiny House was my most successful and popular model yet, and I can't help but be proud of its Brothers Brick feature and the amount of requests for instructions, which led to me venturing into Rebrickable. I even started selling cars on commission and through my local brick-and-mortar third party store, which is flattering beyond words. I don't know what to say, guys, but I'm delighted people are finding joy in my MOCs.

2020 will hopefully be a good year for LUG events as I work on my largest MOC to date, which will serve as a proper display for these things.

Again, thank you so much, everybody who has taken the time to comment on, critique, and help me improve my models and abilities. Y'all are tremendously inspiring and I love interacting with you guys on here. Happy New Year!

The entire Lee Tung Street was demolished in 2007 as part of an Urban Renewal Authority (URA) project.

I'm happy to have now completed two years in a row with an average of one MOC a month. 2019 was an up and down, rollercoaster year outside of LEGO, and I'm happy to have had the opportunity to create some of the best MOCs I've ever made. In 2019 I tried to step outside some of my normal model-building categories and even if some of them weren't as successful as others, I'm happy to feel like I'm still growing and adapting my style. It feels good to explore and refine! It's fun to look and see that a full 1/3 of my models were for fun collabs with my friends, too.

And while I didn't have any moments quite as big as 2018's Masterpiece Gallery invite and display, it was an honor to have been approached and interviewed for the local Portland news twice in 2019.

Let's see if we can't keep this momentum going into 2020!

Early on cold but beautiful morning on the east coast…

Uploading this one to coincide with me hitting the 3 year mark on Flickr… who'd have thought it! This year has been an interesting one in terms of photography, I've enjoyed the challenges of the Scottish weather, and managed to make a bit of progress too. I'm still very much learning every time I got out with the camera, so I really do appreciate the support and encouragement I've received along the way from some very talented people here on flickr… thank you!

I've posted a wee compilation of the images from the past 12 months, split into three sections, Landscape; People, things & stuff; and seascapes… you can view it here. I'd love to know what you think… thanks again.

Just wanted to share them again)

While putting together these compilations, I've come to realize how inconsistant I am with my photography! Finding MOCs in poses similar enough to include in the same image has proven more difficult than it should be, but I included my first SHIP, my best SHIP, and my current SHIP in this one, so I'm happy.

A few of my favourite photos from 2022. I make no claims for their quality, simply that I enjoyed the process of taking them, and that's what counts for me. Photography has been a wonderful way of learning more about the natural world, by encouraging me to look. If I get a nice pic, fine, but it's the practice of looking and learning that I value most.

PS. Part of learning about nature is understanding that it can be unpleasant at times. Therefore, I didn't shy away from including a photo of a damselfly that suffered a fatal injury. As for the bumblebee caught in a spider's web, I can report that it had a happy ending.

S/T 6309-01 The Clash with Janie Jones Obligatory Credit - CAMERA PRESS/Caroline Coon. SPECIAL PRICE APPLIES - CONSULT CAMERA PRESS OR ITS LOCAL AGENT. Joe Strummer, Topper Headon, Janie Jones, Mick Jones and Paul Simenon. Arguably the biggest punk band of their day with massive hits such as 'Should I stay or should go?'. Formed in 1976. Janie Jones, a former Windmill Theatre girl, is more renowned for scandal than her brief recording career. Her several 60s singles included 'Witches Brew' (1965), a minor UK Top 50 hit popularized by pirate radio, but trials for blackmail, prostitution and payola irrevocably linked the singer with scandal. Imprisoned during the 70s, Janie was immortalized in song by the Clash on the hit single 'Janie Jones'.

I like all three posters, but this one is my favorite.

Just for you

From the archives, about 3 years ago. It’s yet another silky floral spring dress that I do still have. It’s so much fun to wear a dress!

Happy Easter, everyone!
