On my family's Baltic cruise. There isn't actually a lot of graffiti in Tallinn's Toompea (old city), evidently because the place is maintained on Disneyland-like standards under which the exposed surfaces are scrubbed down regularly for the benefit of tourist gawking. This exemplar, however, was smack dab in the middle of the one of the more visited areas, which at first suggested to me that is was of very recent provenance. However, further research indicates that the inscription has been there since at least 2009, which raises the fascinating question of why this particular scrawl has been left unmolested. Moreover, the graffito is "all over the city", albeit with some tweaks, like this stylish addition of a pentagram.

Not sure what attracted me to it, but the arrows converging on the ashcan are an intriguing statement of some type on retrofuturism (i.e. the study of visions of the future from the 60's and before, featuring distinctly anachronistic melds of old and new). Eesti (Estonia) is also heralded as one of the great shining beacons of technological expertise emerging from the nations previously behind the Iron Curtain, so the idea of retrofuturism has some valence. I do not, however, know what to make of "translinguistic futurism." I can say that there was fairly good English penetration amongst the Estonians, as far as translingualism goes.

The colour scheme is also remarkably serendipitous, with almost perfect mirrors of the hues on each side, framing the wall. I do love found images.

Feeding grain to cattle has got to be one of the dumbest ideas in the history of western civilization.

Cows, sheep, and other grazing animals are endowed with the ability to convert grasses, which those of us who possess only one stomach cannot digest, into food that we can digest. They can do this because they are ruminants, which is to say that they possess a rumen, a 45 or so gallon (in the case of cows) fermentation tank in which resident bacteria convert cellulose into protein and fats.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser was intended as a replacement for the saloon Neon, sold under the Plymouth and Dodge marques. The PT Cruiser was originally intended as a Plymouth - PT - Plymouth Truck, however the Plymouth marque was to be discontinued, and the PT Cruiser allocated to Chrysler.

Noted for its exterior recalling styling from the 1930s, the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The interior packaging was noted for its high-roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations—a multi-level cargo shelf as well as fold, tumble and removable rear seating.

The PT cruiser arrived on the market at a similar time to other retrofuturistic cars, such as the New Mini, New Beetle, FIAT 500 and Chrysler's own Prowler.

The PT Cruiser is a front-wheel drive 5-passenger vehicle, classified as a truck in the US by the NHTSA for CAFE fuel economy calculations but as a car by most other metrics. Chrysler specifically designed the PT Cruiser to fit the NHTSA criteria for a light truck in order to bring the average fuel efficiency of the company's truck fleet into compliance with CAFE standards.

The PT Cruiser's design was loosely inspired by the Chrysler Pronto Cruizer concept car, which was a car that was styled after the Chrysler and Desoto Airflow, the PT Cruiser's back is slightly similar to the one that was made for the Chrysler CCV which was a retro-styled compact vehicle that was styled after the Citroen 2CV.

By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million over ten years.
