There are so many joyful things to see and do for a tourist in Rethymno. Shopping, visit one of the taverna's and eat delicious food. Enjoying the beautiful culture and history of that wonderful island of Crete ((in dutch Kreta )). It is all so different then our boring grey buildings in western Europe.
In the old town there are the most shops and interesting things to see. So when visiting Crete, don't forget Rethymno.
Street scene with flowers, there is no better way to say thank you to the wonderful Cretan people form the city of Rethymno for giving us such a joyful and blessed holiday Thank you all!

Thanks for your visit, 1000 thanks for FAVing, 1000000 thanks for commenting
Many times it is in the details, like stopping, seeing and enjoying a beautiful decorated balcony in Rethymno , Crete, (in dutch Kreta )
Rethymno, outdated also Rethymnon is a port city in the north of the Greek island Crete. It is the third largest city on the island after Iraklio and Chania and, as a municipality of the same name, forms the centre of the regional district of Rethymno.
Apart from Iraklio, Rethymno is one of the two locations of the University of Crete, the site of a state hospital and was also a port of call for ferries from Piraeus until October 2008.

Sunrise over the harbour.
HDR of 7 exposures.
I moved the chairs and table and in retrospect I could have arranged them better but the sun was rising fast.
Another variation of the sunrise at Rethymno. (I took about 250 shots that morning but I promise this will be the last one I post from that series)
The lighthouse of the Venetian harbor of Rethymno is the second largest remaining Egyptian lighthouse in Crete, after the lighthouse of Chania harbor. It is built on the edge of the old sea wall of Rethymnon and it can be accessed very easily.
The lighthouse we see today was built by the Egyptians during the decade of 1830, when the Turks handed Crete to the Egyptians. Possibly there was an older Venetian lighthouse at the site, just like Chania harbor.
