There are several of these great mid-century teepees scattered along highway rest stops throughout Oklahoma, but a new project to "update" the rest stops have many wondering if the teepees might be coming down soon. I sure hope not.
Taken at Fort Cochin - like quite a few of my photos. There is a bench at the end of a walk way leading to the sea. People usually go sit there at sunset. This is taken by placing the setting sun exactly behind the people.

right after i finished taking pictures with an old television (i think it was my grandmother's) i was packing up and thought the light under my trampoline looked really cool. sooo stuck my face in the dirt and here is the result. i liked how eerie the light seemed, and i'll probably upload the other picture laturr.
For the rest of the driving duties allocated to me during the last week of the current school year, I was given F33ENF. This bus had been undergoing preparation for service when I left the UK in August 2011 and I had previously only been able to see the finished result via "Renown"s postings here on Flickr.
This vehicle is one of three that Stanways Coaches purchased from Heartlands Travel from Tamworth. Two of them came without any seating. F33 is the only one of the trio to be utilised in service by Stanways so far. The award of a contract with South Cheshire College in Crewe that required a 70 seater vehicle precipitated the refurbishment that was carried out during last year's schools summer break.
Whilst having been previously re-fitted with 70 seats by Heartlands, the value of these seats meant that they were retained by them for another upseating exercise on a newer vehicle in their fleet. Stanways were fortunate to be able to rescue a set of 70 bus seats from a vehicle that was being scrapped by another local operator. These were fitted into F33 with only a moderate amount of modification. When checking the vehicles paperwork and making a phone call to the PSV centre, it was discovered that the bus still needed the attentions of a Certifying Officer in order to authorise the up-seating and produce the correct paperwork. The opportunity was taken to paint the vehicle into a version of Stanways red, orange and white livery utilising the natural demarcation lines of the Alexander (Northern Ireland) bodywork. The general condition of the panelwork was very good and little preparation work was required other than rubbing-down. A mechanical inspection was carried out and items were rectified and renewed where required before the bus was submitted for a combined annual MOT inspection and Certificate of Fitness inspection. A first time pass was achieved and the bus was ready for service, although it had to wait a few weeks before the fleetnames could be added!
The regular college work assignment for the vehicle sees it being used around Crewe and its outstationing at the College during breaks of the service. Because the college term ends a week earlier than other schools, it was available for my use on a school contract to Congleton.
This Cummins L10-engined service bus was new to Shearings in Manchester and was part of a couple of batches of such Alexander bodied vehicles that they had.
I was able to photograph it in a place that hitherto would have been impossible due to the garage forecourt being crammed full of used cars. However during my absence from the UK, this old established business had foundered .........yet another depressing sign of "the current difficult economic climate" apparently !
Most of us believe "Fung Shui". Especially the people live in villages. The little blocks on the hill are the places for keeping their ancestor’s bones. They are putting in big ceramic bottles and with metal gates to keep away from animals. Large family has more bottles inside.
Normally, they are in good “Fung Shui” locations. Ancestor's grave with a good "Fung Shui” location shall offering blessings to the descendant’s health and wealth, as they believe.
I love to wander cemeteries with my camera. It adds perspective to life. My Flickr friend and clergy colleague, Ray, felt the same way; we'd often compare cemetery photos. Cemeteries differ from Florida to Pennsylvania!
Last summer, Ray's wife had a professional meeting in Washington, D.C. He accompanied her, and used the opportunity to rent a pick-up truck to travel the rest of the distance to my home in Pennsylvania. We agreed the meet-up was like long-lost relatives coming together.
Of course, we chose to spend time in a local cemetery, talking and taking pictures.
It was only a few weeks after his return to Florida that Ray was hit by a semi while riding his bicycle. He died quickly of his injuries.
Now, it feels different to wander cemeteries. I think of Ray, our meet-up, the sermons we shared online, and the fact that he is now one of the souls who are "at rest." He still offers me perspective.
Commit Your way to the Lord, trust also in Him; and He will bring it to pass, and He will bring forth Your righteousness as the light, and Your judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.
Psalm 37:5-7
Sometimes we don't know what God is doing. Sometimes we can't see what He is doing. But when we can't see His plan we can rest in promises–that will never fail.

Pulled into a rest area not expecting to see anything, I see a nice S600 and see something red out of the corner of my eye. I look over and this is there. I was blown away. Unfortunately the owner came out about 20 seconds after I started taking pictures so I didn't get as many as I wanted. The awesome owner even let me sit in it!
