Time to take a break from all the "Holiday-Madness" and catch up on the Zzz's.

This charming fellow like nothing better than to hang about in graveyards with his collection of 'funny bones'. It's fair to say, that those poor victims probably did not die laughing :O

“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress.” - Charles Dickens

[A simple shot of my sweet friend Alicia donning an alicorn made by Idolatre Clothing Co. My soul has been both exhausted and restless since returning from Iceland. I have so much to process--so much to share. As I slowly get my feet back under me, I'll be attempting to find the words to describe my time in Iceland, and the ways it has changed me. <3 ]

A Julia Butterfly resting wings closed.

On the sidewalks of Old Havana, Cuba.

This one loves to sit on this specific rock on our property in late afternoon to rest. Usually his eyes are almost closed, but he saw me coming and got a little wider-eyed. When they do rest and relax, they lay their ears back. This one is the resident cottontail senior citizen as he's been around for at least two years. There are lots of places of refuge around our property including three decks to scurry under. He seems to hang around the property most of the time.

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time!

The seat is a little bit over-exposed, but somehow, I like this shot! :)

Wild leopard, Kruger National Park

From the number of images of leopard found on Flickr you might think they are abundant in South Africa’s conservation areas. Fact is, they are there, but not in abundance, and finding one is a matter of pure luck. Well, that's how it is for those who visit South Africa’s national parks. (In some private game reserves field guides and trackers armed with radios take their clients right up to these prized photographic trophies.) We drive around optimistically, day after day, looking for photographic opportunities to present themselves, always hoping for a sighting of this elusive animal. And when we do chance upon a leopard other issues come into play, among them the number of vehicles jockeying for a spot (you may not go off-road in national parks) and the vegetation (dense bush frequently allows only glimpses).

To escape the crowds only after leopard and lion, we try to visit our national parks outside of the main tourist season (autumn and winter), and for the Kruger National Park it's December and January with their very hot and humid, often overcast or rainy days. The overcast weather does sometimes have its benefits, offering soft light, such as here where we found this beautiful, male leopard at midday, resting in the shade of a tree.
