i uploaded this to my facebook page a couple of weeks ago, but never here. not sure why, i'm in love with it! from this day.
so i had an amazing thing happen yesterday - i photographed my first wedding! i was really nervous about it, but once i began shooting, it felt natural and i was able to relax and enjoy myself. i hope this opens a lot of door for my business in the future :)
i want to go out and take photos soon, but i haven't had the motivation or the time lately. i don't have much going on this week, so i hope to take advantage of that and have some bonding time with my camera!

The flehmen response also called the flehmen position, flehmen reaction, flehming, or flehmening, is a behaviour whereby an animal curls back its upper lips exposing its front teeth, inhales with the nostrils usually closed and then often holds this position for several seconds. It may be performed over a site or substance of particular interest to the animal (e.g. urine or faeces) or may be performed with the neck stretched and the head held high in the air. The behaviour facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ located above the roof of the mouth via a duct which exits just behind the front teeth of the animal. During Swift Response 2023 exercise I was able to attend some practices at Bardenas Reales shooting range in Spain by USAF A10s. No real fire (not even BRRRRRRRT, because of the ammunition) but great flying demos, some of them for the media. A great day!

These 315s were developed as a response to the second 'oil crisis' in the late 70s, and as such were the least powerful and least specced E21 models to be produced. Italy, renowned for it's heavy taxation of bigger engines, proved to be one of the best markets for these cars. Not the only one I saw on this trip either, and not the only 'small engine special' either.
Nice and run down looking also.

Asters are gorgeous perennial plants that supposedly blooms in response to shorter days. This year, my asters provided a fantastic show and I loved looking at them every day to examine their star-like flowers.
I am proud of these photos-I think I captured the perfect light and colors. Maybe not in your eyes, yet I am happy when I do not feel I have to use post processing. What my camera (in its own inside processing) and I do, in this case, looks great to me. I couldn't choose just one to post. I hope you enjoy them, too.
Was on Vancouver Island a few of weeks ago and spotted these new boats tied up at the Port of Nanaimo dock. So what's the deal?

Three coastal spill response boats unloaded in Nanaimo are becalmed by funding delays.
Western Canada Marine Response Corporation received a shipment of three spill response boats Wednesday, but delays in starting the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion will keep the boats from entering service.
The three nearly identical 300-tonne craft, christened Strait Sentinel, Coastal Sentinel and Gulf Sentinel, were built and sea-trialled in Singapore by ASL Shipyards and were hoisted from the deck and hold of the MV Happy Dynamic cargo ship at the Port of Nanaimo’s Assembly Wharf this week.
WCMRC refers to the craft as coastal response vessels, a new class of spill response vessel for the company, designed to work in heavier seas by Vancouver-based naval architecture and marine engineering company, Robert Allan Ltd.
“These are coastal response vessels and they are purpose-built boats for the West Coast,” said Michael Lowry, WCMSRC spokesman. “We wanted a boat that could handle the rougher weather out there … These aren’t fast boats. They’ll go about 10 knots, but they’ll get there in any kind of weather.”
But the boats won’t enter into service at their bases in Nanaimo, Beecher Bay near Sooke and Ucluelet, but will be laid up in Nanaimo.
Lowry said construction of the craft was started to coincide with construction of Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, which was halted in 2018.
“To meet the initial deadline, at the least the initial deadline, we had to begin the builds and those builds continued even after the announcement came out,” Lowry said. “Actually the boats had already been completed when the announcement came out, so we’ve received delivery, but unfortunately we can’t bring them into service at the moment because there’s no funding. The funding for those vessels was going to come from the Trans Mountain project … so we’re not bringing them into the fleet. There’s no funds to hire a crew to operate them.”

Seen recently (Friday 13th June, 2025) from the shoreline of Ten Mile Point, a rather puzzling encounter. A dozen or more sizeable yachts, mostly ones with black sails, were in a local race struggling to make progress in the almost still air. The biggest one, centre of the photo, dropped the foresail and stopped as a 'Spill Response' boat approached and came alongside it for a few minutes before re-positioning, as shown in the photo, for a few minutes and then headed off. The big yacht then pulled away to join the others. What was that all about?
'Spill Response' (Western Canada Marine Response Organization) is an industry-funded organization with boats stationed in key harbours throughout Canada's west coast, to deal quickly with marine spills and mitigate the impacts on B.C.'s coast.
