The most iconic structure in all of Marken is certainly the so-called Paard van Marken ("Horse of Marken"), a monumental lighthouse that rises from the easternmost point of the peninsula; the current structure dates from 1839. The peculiar name stems from its shape, which consists of a 54-ft. (16m) tower attached to two pyramidal-roofed houses. Since the Paard van Marken is now a private residence, it is closed to the public.
This palace in Würzburg, Germany was built in the 17 hundreds, emulating the Palace of Versailles.
The interior is full of beautiful painted ceilings and walls, but no photography allowed.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sengan-en is the residence and garden of the Shimazu family in Kagoshima, Kyushu, Japan, and was originally constructed in 1658. The contemporary residence dates from the 1880s.
This old stone church sat empty for years and then someone refurbished it and it is now a residence.

Wetherby is a market town situated close to the county's border with North Yorkshire. The town stands on the River Wharfe, and for centuries has been a crossing place and staging post on the Great North Road midway between London and Edinburgh

Marnix van Sint-Aldegonde Castle
The story of this castle is linked to the presence of the river Scheldt and begins with the Roman period. According to tradition, a watchtower was built on the Scheldt at the site of the present castle site. During the 9th and 10th centuries, a feudal castle was erected there as a defence against the invasions of the Vikings. Some foundations and wall parts from the 11th century have been preserved. Afterwards, the building served as a residence for the lords of Bornem.
When the Scheldt bed moved, the castle was hit by a dead arm. The strategic importance of the castle diminished.
With the arrival of the Spanish nobleman Pedro Coloma, who bought the domain in 1586, a new chapter began for the castle.
During the 17th century, the new Renaissance castle suffered greatly from wars. The old central castle tower was demolished in 1687.
Since 1780 the domain has been owned by the de Marnix family. Count Ferdinand Joseph had the castle of Pedro Coloma demolished in 1880. Hendrik Beyaert made the plans for the complete renovation of the castle with outbuildings.
In 1894, the current massive looking castle was rebuilt, with a double moat and a connection to the neo-Gothic style. The entrance bridge with two watchtowers dates from 1895. The brick outbuildings are located within the first moat and form a mini village, as it were.
Rows of balconies at the Park Lake Residences located on Lakeshore Boulevard West. Completed in 2010, the condo was designed by Burka Architects Inc and developed by Pemberton Group.
This building is one of the highlights of any trip to Wurzburg. The artistry on the ceiling of the main hall is magnificent. It is a UNESCOM World Heritage Site.

A pretty beetle with a shiny metallic appearance. They are a pest that feed on soybean plants, we do have more soybeans than we can use so we probably shouldn't begrudge them a nibble.

Hence, it was named after the zodiac sign The Twins, Gemini.

Résidence Higher Roch is a 57 metres tall residential building completed in 2022 and located next to Saint-Roch railway station in Montpellier. It was designed by Philippe Bonon and A+ Architecture.
