A friend's "rescue" car. Seems to me it may take forever for revival.
Knoxville Area Photo 30 Day Challenge - Topic: "Anything"
This is Shadow. Five days ago, he was in a cage at a local rescue group, because he had been trapped at a colony, desexed, and then unable to be domesticated. Poor little guy was terrified. So they asked if I could try to work with him, since I used to care for feral colonies in Spain.
His progress is amazing. In just one day I was able to give him chin rubs, and every day he has made some giant leap in progress. (No, it hasn't come easily, I've spent lots and lots of time flat on the floor with my arm outstretched and my neck contorted because he was hiding in the far corner under the bed. Oh, and those squeezable treat tubes. Definitely those!)
Since Tuesday, he has been happy. He loves it when I spend time with him (he's in the spare room for the moment), and he has started to explore and play with toys. He loves chin rubs, he loves getting his back brushed with the curry comb, he purrs and he says hello when I come into the room.
There is still a long way to go.. but he's already making my heart sing 😊

Met this guy when taking pictures. His owner adopted him from a collie rescue recently.

I did a wee shoot recently with Asha in her wee fireman/woman costume on so thought I'd do a wee composite picture. The background is Donaghadee Lighthouse where the new series of 'Hope Street' is being filmed.
PNLX 9616, leased by Keolis, hauls a dead set of equipment from Newburyport west through Chelsea, MA. This station is newer, built a few years ago and is about 1/4 mile west of where the old station was.
Ecclesiastes 8:8 “Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it, so no one has power over the day of his death. Just as no one can be discharged during the battle, so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked.”
We stumbled by chance on a coast guard rescue operation while visiting Las Teresitas.
Helicopter and boats were searching around a specific spot on the coast.
We checked later and found out that tragically two young swimmers got trapped in a small cave and drowned before help arrived.

In total, 5 siblings were rescued together with their mom when they were just one week old, by the Norwegian Society of Protection of animals in April. They were found among some insulation on a construction site.
I photographed them all last week, when they were 5.5 weeks old. Here is Miley in front. Her siblings are called Matheo, Mindy, Milas og Miam, and their mom Millie.
My album of cats and rabbits here.

As I was driving home from work yesterday evening I noticed this beautiful little box turtle friend walking in the gutter between the curb & road on a heavily trafficked street... no way out for him because of the height of the curb. It was a shocking sight. There was also no where to pull the car over so I kept going, found the closest pull-off, and sprinted back half a mile in hopes he had not wandered into traffic. Luckily, when I arrived he was still in the gutter area now completely trapped & retracted. Poor little fella. Typically when rescuing box turtles I put them back in the woods as close as I can to where I found them, but this area was so heavily trafficked it just didn't seem like a good idea. So instead, he joined me as a carpool companion, and I dropped him off this evening at the local woods / nature area that I frequent across the way. Probably not ideal, but I do believe it's his best hope of carrying on, and for now at least he's safe. Good luck little friend. :) -H3

Central Maine and Quebec GP38-3M 3817 slowly creeps through Tarratine, ME on 4/15/2023. With train 121 all over the ground around MP-56, an extra out of NMJ was called to pull the underailed cars away from the wreck site.
121-15 hit a washout while doing 35-40 mph, sending three units and 9 cars into the drink. Based on the photos, the crew is lucky to have survived with only minor injuries. In the photos, one of the lumber cars landed upside down on the lead unit, before catching fire. Luckily some railfans who were chasing were in the right place at the right time, and drove the crew out to Demo Road (You know who you are). By the looks, all three units are a loss and the Moosehead Sub will be closed for a few days.

BNSF 294 tows Amtrak 8 south along BNSF's Hillsboro Sub at Alton, ND. While BNSF power towing Amtrak is not unheard of, rarely does one get the chance to see an SD75I as the chosen power.
Spanish beaches do offer lots of surprises. This little plane seemed to appear out of nowhere and for a few seconds I thought it was a sea rescue.

Edmonton, CANADÀ 2024
"The Rescue" in Edmonton refers to a well-known commemorative sculpture located in the historic Old Strathcona district, near Whyte Avenue.
Key Points:
Type of Work: It is a bronze sculpture created by artist Danek Mozdzenski.
Theme and Location: It depicts a firefighter at the top of a ladder rescuing a young girl from a window. It is situated across from the Varscona Theatre, near the site of Strathcona's original fire hall.
Commemoration: The sculpture is part of a larger memorial plaza that pays tribute to Edmonton's fallen firefighters (Fallen Firefighters Memorial). Nearby plaques list the names of firefighters who died in the line of duty.
Community Significance: It is a recognizable and meaningful landmark in Old Strathcona, often seen by visitors to the nearby Fringe Festival and the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market.
