Says it all really. That picture has not been Photoshopped in any way. My camera is fucked. Every picture has this funky effect on it. Not good. Can anyone help me get to the bottom of the problem?
I've got a Samsung NV10 which I love, and it's about 2 years old. There's nothing wrong with the lens as the video bit works fine. I haven't got a new memory card or anything, it just suddenly started doing this one day. It's driving me a little bit mad. Can anyone help?

This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 27th May 2015 at 20:00. The weather was perfect for running and racing again and gave bright sunshine with some breeze. The weather conditions were favourable for runners this evening. As this was the final night of a very successful league there were many category prizes up for grabs with runners having to ensure they ran their races to gain the required finish times for the overall calculations. There was a great atmosphere at the finish as spectators cheered on the runners. This year's 5KM is ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. The final 1KM is within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification means that the race offers a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years. In the prize giving and awards in Belvedere House Cafe there were refreshments served for runners and this brought the curtain down on the Road League for 2015.
The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Runners can also choose to just run one race without being considered for the overall league placings. Over 330 people took part in tonight's event bring the total from the four nights to so far to well over 1,400 runners. As with all of the previous weeks the new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 is now over but has continued successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series. Despite the bright evenings the photographic conditions in Belevedere are difficult so this photograph is part of a smaller than usual photograph set as there were many blurred photographs this evening.
The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. From the August 2016 return trip to Siem Reap and the Angkor complex:
I love the Angkor complex, Siem Reap, and the Cambodian people so much that I returned again for about a week to photograph as much of the “non-major” sites as I could. Some of them are slightly far from Angkor Wat (by that, I mean to say more than 10 kilometers away), and usually require a little more money to get to. Also, some of the sites (Beng Mealea, Phnom Kulen) are not included in the Angkor ticket price and have an additional admission fee.
I don’t know if there’s a set number of how many sites belong in the Angkor complex, though I’m sure it would vary. (Do you only count the major sites like Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm? Do you add the sites that aren’t included in the standard “Angkor Pass,” but are clearly of the same era? Do you include sites that aren’t even named (as are one of the sites in this series)? All in all, I’ll put a very rough number at…50 sites in the Siem Reap area, and that includes the sites that are about 100 km away. Of those, I would say I’ve been to all but 5-10 now. All are included here with the exception, obviously, of the sites that I didn’t visit. (Off the top of my head, I can say they include Koh Ker & that respective group, which is about 120 km ENE of Siem Reap; Phnom Krom, one of the three “mountains” with temples; Ta Prohm Kel; and Mangalartha.)
In practical terms, I’m afraid that with the volume of shooting (about 1,500 frames in the past 7 days), photos will start to look redundant to those who don’t have the same interest in ancient/historical architecture or Angkor as I do. That being said, there are a few things besides temples here. The Old Market area (now Night Market/Pub Street) is represented – a little – and Phnom Kulen has a pretty nice waterfall which is also in this series. Also, I tried to catch a few people in here, though didn’t get as many as I would’ve liked.
I had my friend Mao (tuktuk driver) take me around for 5 of these 7 days this time around. As I mentioned last time, he may cost a little more than what you can arrange through a hotel/guesthouse, but he’s well worth the money (and, in the grand scheme of things, not too expensive; I paid less than $200 for the five days, two of which were “long” trips). He loves his country and heritage, he knows what he’s showing you, he’s flexible, he gives you enough ice water to keep you hydrated, and he’s just a good guy. (He even bought me a birthday cake for cryin’ out loud…) Anyway, I highly recommend Mao. Now that shameless plugs and other assorted rhetoric are out of the way, it’s time to get on to the temples, ruins, and other miscellany.
The third full day back in Siem Reap was just revisiting sites that we’d seen in May. It started, for the second day in a row, sometime before five in the morning to go see a sunrise-that-wasn’t. (If I thought yesterday’s at Sra Srang was a stretch to call it good, then today’s was…well…it wasn’t. I didn’t even bother taking the cameras or tripod out.)
This trip around the small circuit was almost identical to the one we did in May. As such, I didn’t actually get out and shoot at every single stop this time like I did last time. The sunrise started at the exact same spot outside the Angkor Wat western gate. However, instead of touring the grounds briefly as we did in May, we actually left quite early from Angkor Wat to head over in caravan (three tuktuks, as today happened to be with a group of eight other people) to Ta Prohm around 7:00, after eating breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
While at Ta Prohm, I wandered around on my own (which I tried to do whenever possible while Mao was entertaining the group) for about an hour. I regretted having left my tripod in the tuktuk (as I did in May, too; it seems idiots never learn). However, I got out the P&S and managed to shoot quite a few of the apsaras, at least.
From Ta Prohm, we crossed the street due south to Banteay Kdei, where I passed on shooting. It’s not a major temple and I shot it fairly well in May. The only difference this time is, instead of coming in the east gate next to Sra Srang, they went in the west gate due south of Ta Prohm’s east gate. After a bout of restlessness, I did eventually get out and shot one or two frames of the west gate just as they were finishing up.
Next up was Ta Keo, one of the “mountain temples,” which we’d also seen in May. In May, however, it was close to 40 degrees Celsius with a blazing sun and I didn’t feel like climbing the rather steep stairs to the upper level. So, I intentionally did that immediately upon returning here this time. The view from the top isn’t terribly stunning. Just trees in most every direction, though you’re around the level of the treetops. Climbing down while lugging a tripod and camera gear was a bit challenging, though – especially since I’m not as spry as I once was. (For that reason alone, and knowing how steep the climb – albeit short – and how narrow the steps are on the upper mount, I intentionally abandoned the group to get a head start.)
The next two stops – Thommanon & Chao Say Tevoda, followed by the Victory Gate – I skipped, as I knew they were very quick stops and, like May, I’d already catalogued them. The next major stop was Bayon where, again, I abandoned everyone and took the tripod to go around the outer wall shooting the murals as much as I could in an hour. By the time we finished, we headed back to the same restaurant where we had breakfast (though I was quite unimpressed; I definitely prefer Khmer Country Kitchen on the north side of Sra Srang) and we passed an hour or so eating. Around 1:45, we went back across the street to Angkor Wat, but most of the group – keep in mind, these are people 10-20 years younger than I and in much better shape – were complaining about fatigue and just wanted to go to their hotel pools or other restaurants in town. So…after a very quick run through Angkor Wat, we finally wrapped up the day around 3:00.
Heading back to My Home Tropical Garden Villa (my home away from home in Siem Reap), I grabbed a shower, rested up, and spent yet another night around the Old Market. At least Friday (my 43rd birthday) and Saturday, Mao didn’t take any customers just to make sure I could go anywhere and see anything I wanted. Though today wasn’t a bust by any means, I was definitely looking forward to Friday and Saturday.

Dogs Require Doctor Visits And Wholesome Customs
To be sure that your pets remain healthy and nimble, you ought to simply take these to a local, trusted veterinarian for wellness check ups at least once a year. The OT-64 SKOT (Czech acronym for: Střední Kolový Obrněný Transportér, and/or Polish Średni Kołowy Opancerzony Transporter – medium wheeled armoured transporter) is an amphibious armoured personnel carrier (8×8), developed jointly by the Polish People's Republic (PRL) and Czechoslovakia (ČSSR) well into the 1960's.
Until the early 1970's Czechoslovakia and the Polish People's Republic produced around 4,500 OT-64 SKOT's of all variants, just under a third of which were exported. In 2002, the modernization of the SKOT transporter began in Poland. The work resulted in the KTO Ryś prepared by Wojskowe Zakłady Mechaniczne No. 5 from Poznań.
The OT-64 was intended to replace the halftrack OT-810, which was nearly identical to the German Sd.Kfz. 251 from World War II. The first prototype was built in 1959. In 1961 the first sample series were built. From October 1963 the vehicles were produced in Lublin, Poland by Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych. The Polish plant acted as an assembly plant. Components of the propulsion system and power transmission, Tatra engine, Praga transmission and chassis, were imported from Czechoslovakia.
Armoured hulls and turrets (Huta in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and Huta Częstochowa), elements of the suspension system (Huta Stalowa Wola) and on-board armaments (Zakłady Mechaniczne in Tarnów) were manufactured in Poland. Production ended in July 1971. Of the 4,500 OT-64's produced, 2,500 were obtained by the Polish army, and 2,000 by the Czechoslovak army. They were also acquired by the Hungarian army. Later, after introducing the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles into service, SKOT transporters were exported to other countries. Today, they are gradually being replaced by newer vehicles.
The OT-64's engine, transmission, suspension and axles were produced in Czechoslovakia. The engine was produced by Tatra. The gearbox was manufactured by Praga Hostivař. It has a pre-select Praga-Wilson gearbox, 5 forward +1 reverse gears. A gear is selected using the gear stick. When the gear is required the left pedal, gear change action/clutch combined, is pressed to the floor, giving a hiss of air sound. On release of the pedal the dry plate clutch engages after about half the return spring controlled movement.
The drive then passes to an auxiliary gearbox with low, neutral and high ratios which needs to be selected before moving off, for road/neutral/off-road use. This gives option to the driver of 10 forward and 2 reverse ratios. The gear change pedal is hydraulic and on action opens an air valve which causes the selected gear to engage. The armoured hull and weapons were produced in Poland.
The OT-64 was the answer to the Soviet BTR-60. Contrary to this, the OT-64 used a diesel set in place of a petrol engine. That diminished the danger of fire and at the same time increased the range. The main advantage in relation to the Russian counterpart was the full-armoured interior. The entrance is at the rear of the vehicle via twin doors. The OT-64 has nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection facility and night-vision equipment. It has central inflation for all wheels which can be controlled by the driver. The OT-64 is air-transportable and amphibious, with two propellers installed at the back.
Several variants were built. Some OT-64 were re-equipped for air defense or built as tank hunters. The latter used the AT-3 Sagger missile as a weapon.
▪︎OT-64 SKOT entered service with Polish and Czechoslovak armies in 1963. It was produced until the early 1970's. It is still in service in Poland and Slovakia, among other operated by the Slovak police. Czech units were replaced in 2006 by new armoured vehicles Pandur II CZ. During the 1990's, Slovakia purchased hundreds of these units from the Czech Republic (150 in 1994, 100 in 1998). Slovaks then sold them to mainly African countries. The OT-64 SKOT was exported to eleven countries. The total number of vehicles produced was 4,500.
Czechoslovakia
▪︎OT-64 – Original version, used in the APC role. Early models were unarmed but later the vehicle was fitted with a pintle-mounted 7.62mm light machine gun or 12.7mm DShK 1938/46 heavy machine gun. They used to be known in the West as respectively OT-64A and OT-64B. Some 12.7mm DShK 1938/46 heavy machine gun armed OT-64 APC's had shields around the heavy machine gun mount.
▪︎OT-64 – fitted with a small turret from OT-65A. However this one is armed with twin machine guns and doesn't have the 82mm T-21 ''Tarasnice'' recoilless gun.
▪︎DTP-64 (dilna technicke pomoci) – Czech repair version with tow bars, welding equipment and a hand-operated crane with a capacity of 1 tonne. There were two sub-versions, namely the DTP-64/M for mechanized infantry units and the DTP-64/T for tank units.
▪︎OT-64 ZDRAV or ZDR-64 – (zdravotni) ambulance.
▪︎OT-64A – Improved version fitted with BPU-1 turret from Soviet BRDM-2 armoured scout car which is armed with a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun and 7.62mm PKT coaxial machine gun. CDC no longer requires unvaccinated to quarantine after being exposed to COVID
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its COVID-19 guidance Thursday to ease recommendations for people who are unvaccinated and have been exposed to COVID-19.
Previously, the CDC advised that people who were unvaccinated or hadn't received their booster shots should quarantine for five days after exposure. If no symptoms appear, the quarantine can end.
The new guidance no longer recommends that unvaccinated people quarantine after exposure, instead suggesting they mask up for 10 days and get tested five days after they were exposed.
This is the same guidance that was previously given to vaccinated and boosted people who were exposed to COVID and essentially simplifies the CDC's quarantine recommendation. Americans who are exposed to the virus, regardless of vaccination status, no longer need to stay at home if they've had an exposure, per the CDC's latest guidelines.
"We're in a stronger place today as a nation, with more tools — like vaccination, boosters, and treatments — to protect ourselves, and our communities, from severe illness from COVID-19," Dr. Greta Massetti, chief of the field epidemiology and prevention branch at the CDC and one of the authors of the updated guidance, said in a statement.
"This guidance acknowledges that the pandemic is not over, but also helps us move to a point where COVID-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives," she said.
The CDC also included updated guidance on how people can use testing to end their isolation after getting sick with COVID-19, recommending two negative tests 48 hours apart before going out in public again without a mask.
The new guidance recommends people take their first test on day six of isolation if they're fever-free, with a second rapid test 48 hours later.
If both tests are negative, people can leave their homes and not use a mask around others. Massetti said the CDC decided to recommend two tests, two days apart, because of recent Food and Drug Administration studies showing the serial testing, or testing multiple times, improves efficacy of rapid tests.
"We want to ensure that when people are using an antigen test, that we're relying on the most accurate information, avoiding potentially making decisions based on false negative results," Massetti told reporters Thursday.
Waiting 48 hours before taking another test mitigates "some of those performance issues," she said.
But officials were clear that the CDC still considers testing optional and doesn't expect all Americans to have access to tests.
"We are still recommending that decisions for ending isolation should be based on symptoms and time," Massetti said.
The guidance Massetti referred to suggests that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 should isolate for at least five days.
If the person remains fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication by day 5, or never had symptoms, they can end isolation but are advised to wear a mask for a full 10 days.
The CDC also said it was no longer recommending schools use test-to-stay, which allowed students who were close contacts of those who test positive for COVID to continue to attend in-person classes as long as they remain asymptomatic and continue to test negative.
Massetti said because unvaccinated and vaccinated people no longer are advised to quarantine, test-to-stay was no longer necessary.
"Because we're no longer recommending quarantine, we're no longer including a section on test-to-stay because the practice of handling exposures would involve masking rather than a quarantine, and test-to-stay was an alternative to quarantine," she said.
The CDC also said it was removing its recommendation of testing asymptomatic people without known exposures in most community settings and deemphasizing six feet of social distancing, which has been recommended since the early days of the pandemic.
"Physical distance is just one component of how to protect yourself and others," the guidance reads. "It is important to consider the risk in a particular setting, including local COVID-19 Community Levels and the important role of ventilation, when assessing the need to maintain physical distance."

CDC updates its COVID-19 guidelines in sweeping overhaul
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention unveiled significant changes Thursday as part of a sweeping effort to overhaul the agency's COVID-19 guidance.
"This guidance acknowledges that the pandemic is not over, but also helps us move to a point where COVID-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives," CDC's Greta Massetti said in a statement announcing the changes.
Among the biggest differences in the new recommendations:
The CDC's COVID-19 prevention guidance will no longer differentiate by whether people are up-to-date on their vaccinations. Testing to screen for COVID-19 will no longer be recommended in most places for people who do not have COVID symptoms. The CDC says people who have tested positive for COVID-19 can stop wearing masks if their symptoms have improved and they test negative twice in a row — initially on the sixth day after their infection began, and then again on the eighth day. And the CDC says that "to limit social and economic impacts, quarantine of exposed persons is no longer recommended, regardless of vaccination status."
Massetti told reporters Thursday that the recommendations are being revised to simplify the myriad of federal COVID-19 guidance into an easier "framework."
"It's really about kind of how people can understand how all of these components fit together. It starts with people understanding their own personal risk, for serious illness, and that of their loved ones," Massetti added.
Web pages posted Thursday by the agency include new descriptions and illustrations "to help you assess the likelihood that you were infected when you were around a person with COVID-19" and a simplified guide to "what to do if you were exposed" to someone with COVID-19.
The agency also trimmed out several specific COVID-19 recommendations for schools, including removing guidance around "cohorting" and "test to stay" strategies where students exposed to the virus could remain in school as long as they continued to test negative.
"The key changes in the school guidance are in those sections that would parallel the changes in the community guidance. So, for example, we are no longer recommending quarantine. And so in the school guidance, there is no more section on quarantine," Massetti told reporters.
Other tweaks to the school guidance, which was last updated in May, include clarifying that all people should be masking in school nurses' offices — the same as is already recommended for other health care settings — and removing a recommendation that classrooms need to be disinfected after a positive case is spotted.
A summary of the guidance was published Thursday in the agency's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
Detailed recommendations are expected to be updated and "streamlined" over the coming days, including for travel, nursing homes, and other high-risk congregate settings.
Nursing and health care settings will continue to rely on the agency's old community transmission framework, Massetti said, which is based on counts of reported COVID-19 cases.
The rest of the agency's guidance will continue to be pegged to the CDC's COVID-19 Community Levels benchmarks, which incorporate hospitalization figures into determining whether counties are at "low," "medium," or "high" levels of the disease.
Massetti said the agency is continuing to reassess the performance of those metrics, but for now the agency has not "gotten any results that suggest a substantial change is warranted at this time."
The CDC's COVID-19 officials have telegraphed plans to significantly revise and simplify the guidelines for months, acknowledging growing fatigue with measures aimed at curbing the virus and the changing threat posed by it more than two and a half years into the pandemic.
"We have high levels of vaccine and infections-induced immunity in the country, we have highly effective treatments and prevention tools, we've greatly reduced the risk of medically significant illness, hospitalization, and death," Dr. Ian Williams, head of the agency's COVID-19 response, said this week at a meeting of the agency's outside advisers.
Williams said the CDC has also moved over recent months to wind down a substantial share of its standalone pandemic response, integrating its COVID-19 activities into the agency's regular teams.
The shift comes as the latest COVID-19 wave appears to now be subsiding, after hospitalization rates reached some of the worst levels seen since the winter Omicron surge.
Figures published Thursday by the CDC now show less than half of all Americans are currently living in counties at "high" COVID-19 Community Levels, for the first time in a month.
Deaths remain around 400 per day on average — far lower than some of the worst peaks during previous waves, though still a level that makes it one of the nation's leading causes of death.
"This is about pivoting our public health focus on sustainable efforts to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on health and society," Williams added.
