A very tasty and different chicken salad. I loved the addition of the pistachios. I also liked the vindaloo paste, but I like things a bit spicy so next time will probabbly double it. Recipe from Remy's Wine Bar and found in SPECIAL REQUESTS.

Wereldwijd zijn er 36 miljoen mensen op de vlucht. Oorlog, honger, onderdrukking en natuurrampen zijn de oorzaken, maar wat kunnen wij eraan doen? Een vluchteling is nergens zonder jouw hulp! Giel Beelen, Paul Rabbering en Coen Swijnenberg laten zich opsluiten in het Glazen Huis op de Grote Markt in Breda voor 3FM Serious Request 2008.
This was a fortunate shot, I was trying to get a face on shot of this seven spot lady bird beetle (lady bug) as it came over the edge of the leaf. I noticed it fluttered it's outer wings (elytra) once. I snapped the shutter right as it took off. Focus isn't on, but hey...I'll take it.

Ontario's government is supporting students and their families when making requests to bring their service animals into schools and classrooms. Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education, Sam Oosterhoff, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, Amy Fee, announced a new policy directive in support of Ontario students with special needs to improve their access to service animals in schools.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

Onder anderen Ben Saunders, Miss Montreal, Martijn Koning en Pieter Derks traden dinsdagavond op in poppodium Metropool in Hengelo voor Circus Request van 3FM. Deejay Giel Beelen van 3FM trekt met artiesten langs verschillende podia in Nederland om met de optredens zoveel mogelijk geld op te halen voor de jaarlijkse actie Serious Request van de radiozender. Dit jaar gaat de opbrengst naar moeders die geraakt zijn door oorlogssituaties.

3FM Serious Request draait dit jaar om diarree. Jaarlijks overlijden er wereldwijd 800.000 kinderen aan de gevolgen van diarree en om dat aantal terug te dringen, zetten 3FM en het Rode Kruis zich van 18 t/m 24 december vanuit Leeuwarden in om zoveel mogelijk geld in te zamelen voor deze stille ramp. This is the lighthouse at South Haven, MI and no, it isn't mirror reversed. It was taken from the South Pier this time rather than the direction of the North Pier. It was taken later the afternoon of 9/10/01, the same day my friend and I had taken the storm wave photos, some of which I've already posted on Flickr.
The title came to pass after a CA friend on another website, knowing that I had gone to Michigan to shoot with our mutual friend, requested that I come on and post a lighthouse photo from the trip, so I posted this one and being a silhouette, came to call it "Silhouette by Request".
It was also one that my MI friend, Gary Martin, had printed an 11x14 for me, which I had Inner Images, a MI gallery mat and frame for me. Gary, knowing that her (the gallery owner) Nov.-Dec. Christmas exhibit was coming up, asked me if I wanted him to see if she would exhibit this one of mine -- which was fine with her, so this wound up being one of several photos from different people on exhibit in her gallery from Nov. 1-the week before Christmas 2001. I, not knowing of course if I'd ever again have a photo on exhibit, decided to go back to MI for the Dec. gallery hop, which is the 1st Friday of each month, so that I could see it on exhibit in person. It didn't sell and hardly anyone showed, but that was unfortuately because the gallery owner did not get in the publicity for the gallery hop in time for people to know. I have a couple photos that Gary took of me standing next to my matted and framed photo, but don't know where they are right now. It was also exhibited since then in a Tewksbury Library exhibit from Sept. 6-30, 2005.

Op de Grote Markt in Groningen draaien Giel Beelen, Gerard Ekdom en Annemieke Schollaardt van 18 t/m 24 december 2009 een week lang plaatjes om geld op te halen voor het Rode Kruis. Dit doen de DJ's in het kader van 3FM Serious Request 2009.
