Saturday Self Challenge Chair
Stopping at a bakery in for a late breakfast on one of our walks, led to finding this chair, repurposed from a wine barrel. While it looks good, it actually wasn't that comfortable!
A discarded horseshoe makes a good place to tie a gate open when it is nailed to a post at the old scale house on the BQ Ranch in Wyoming.
Fire Hose Houses were used on the Union Pacific railroad to cover a hydrant and store hoses and other firefighting equipment. When they were no longer needed they were sometimes repurposed as outhouses. This is the third one I have found and there is just enough of the Fire Hose sign to identify it. When used as a hose house it would have had a hydrant inside connected to a water line through a hole that was convenient after the outhouse conversion. One of the hose houses I found still had a crank on the outside that must have worked a hose reel. This outhouse is at a corral on the Crow Creek Road, Bear Lake County, Idaho.
Knightshayes Court is a Victorian country house near Tiverton, Devon, England. The former stables have been repurposed as a cafe.
N743AX, a Boeing 767-232F, on short final for runway 10 at Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM / TNCM) at Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten. She was arriving as AJT853 (Amerijet International, Inc.) from Miami, Florida. Serial number 22218 began her career on December 8, 1982 with Delta Air Lines, Inc. as N106DA.
Hutchinson, Kansas. When traveling for work, I often find myself in places that do not have big attractions or iconic landmarks. So I do my best to capture something that reminds me of the trip. No matter how mundane.
Back in the fall 2011 this was the scene just off Broad Street in downtown Nevada City. Today it looks virtually the same except the buildings are now home to our local radio station, KVMR. Actually, the interior has been entirely rebuilt to include the radio station and modern office space. In keeping with the town's historical charter, the old siding was removed, cleaned up, and reused on the exterior of the new building. Here in Nevada City things manage to change while staying somewhat the same.

MKM Museum Küppersmühle, Duisburg, Germany.

A grain mill was erected in 1860 on the site of the present Museum Küppersmühle by industrialist Wilhelm Vedder, one of the founding fathers of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. The mill closed down in 1972.
The conversion of the grain mill into the Küppersmühle Museum was completed in 1999.
One of Norfolk Southern's recycled 90MAC specimens rolls along Lake Michigan, down Main 4 out of CP501 with empty steel gons from Alabama. With the steady pace these second-hand units are going through the shops at Altoona, its just a matter of time before this guy trades rouge for basic black. East Chicago, IN.
In it's former life, this rusted out relic was an Exxon Service vessel. Now it serves as set dressing for a faux waterfront resort town of sorts, at Lake Sumpter Landing in The Villages, Florida.
As has been mentioned in a few comments below...the only thing missing here is the oil spill!
The Platt Street Power Plant building on Pier 4 in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
From Wikipedia: "The Pratt Street Power Plant — also known as the Pier Four Power Plant, The Power Plant, and Pratt Street Station — is a historic former power plant located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland, USA. It has undergone significant repurposing development since retirement and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987."
Ickworth House in Suffolk is a magnificent neoclassical building with a distinctive Rotunda, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
The current house was the brainchild of the 4th Earl of Bristol, an extravagant traveller and art collector who also served as the wealthy Bishop of Derry. Inspired by classical Roman architecture like the Pantheon, he commissioned Italian architect Mario Asprucci to design an "aristocratic paradise" that would house his vast art collection.
Work began in 1795, but the Earl-Bishop died in 1803 with the house still a shell and much of his collection seized by Napoleonic troops. His son, Frederick, the 5th Earl (later 1st Marquess of Bristol), completed the building between 1821 and 1829, repurposing the East Wing as the family home and the Rotunda as a grand gallery.
The house is notable for its massive central Rotunda and curved corridors linking to symmetrical wings. The 1st Marquess also established England's earliest surviving Italianate garden on the grounds.
In 1956, the 4th Marchioness presented the house and estate to the Treasury in lieu of death duties, and it was passed to the National Trust for public enjoyment. The Hervey family continued to live in the East Wing until 1998, which has since been converted into The Ickworth Hotel.

Say what you will about Portland but they have an oddly keen sense to repurpose garbage.
This was the same weekend I shot McMenamins Edgefield, one of the largest properties I've ever seen for a theater. There were bars littered both outdoors and in the main buildings, this one was in the shadow of the watertower and for some reason, seemed almost... tropical. I think the only thing that lightly gives away the illusion is that bee trap in the back.
I also did something extraordinarily stupid to get this shot. I know it doesn't look it, but I sought to get closer to that bulb, on a 2 second timer, I hoisted my camera up on a fully extended tripod (it was maybe 11 feet in the air, one mishap and EVERYTHING comes crashing down, fortunately that didn't happen). And I would not have end up with this angle otherwise.
Wishing to keep the saturation up in post, I edited in a higher contrast, removed some of the highlights from the bar, and highlighted the path and piping more to present a vanishing point. Keeping clarity on most parts of the image and redirectiing shadows to the top right corner to help the bulb stand out more than it already did.
