probably not the best place to stand. Tiger snake at Australian Reptile Park

Two-headed turtle at the Reptile Zoo, Monroe, WA

Gotta hold this lizard before he runs!

warmer weather brings out the best and worst, depending on what your definition is. Me, I do not have a problem with snakes, they eat mice and rats. What more could you ask for?

This young snapping turtle went about 10 inches across the shell, weighed around 2.5 lbs. I photographed him on the road at Bedford Mills, then carefull picked him up and moved him before he was hit. Note the duck-weed and filamentous algae covering his carapace. My wife did not appreciate my "turtle stink" when I got back in the car!

This guy was just sitting by the side of the driveway. He didn't leave till I prodded him with a stick. These guys are not poisonous but they act like they could hurt you and will strike with a nonvenomous bite.

Adders are the only venomous snakes found in Britain, although they are absent from Ireland. They use their venom to immobilise prey such as lizards, amphibians, nestlings and small mammals. After striking their prey, they leave the venom to take effect before following the victim’s scent to find the body.

Seen in a parking lot at a McDonalds, he was in no hurry to run off. I see them everywhere, they are an unwelcome non-native species and they must be prolific breeders.

I've been getting back in touch with old high school and college friends on Facebook, which can be good and bad. But one plus is some of the photos they're digging up from the past.

This one is me some time in 1989 or 1990 at a reptile show in the library at my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. I think it was my freshman year in undergrad.
