World Investment Report 2026 Press Conference
On 7 July 2026 in Geneva, UN Trade and Development Acting Secretary-General Pedro Manuel Moreno spoke at the press conference launching the World Investment Report 2026: International Investment in a Turbulent Era at the Palais des Nations.
The report finds that global foreign direct investment rose by 6 per cent in 2025 to $1.6 trillion, but that the recovery remains fragile and uneven. It highlights how investment is increasingly concentrated in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, clean energy and critical minerals, while many developing economies continue to face challenges in attracting investment for sustainable development.
Looking ahead, the report warns that trade policy uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and economic fragmentation could weigh on investment prospects in 2026 and beyond.
Speakers included Pedro Manuel Moreno, Acting Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development; Nan Li Collins, Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise; A. Sulstarova; and M. Meloni.

This is a report that looks at the social well being of children in at a local factory. These children are in charge of making pin heads. The left column is all there names, while the top column has the categories of: Age, Read, Write, Goes to School, Attends Sunday School, Lord's Prayer, How long employed, Parent occupation, clothes, and health.
Some quick notes, it is interesting to see that at the time children we not only responsible for going to school at a young age but we also needed to make a wage (especially at 9 yrs old). We can see how the government was very interested in the morality of individuals, by them asking about a child's attendance at Sunday school and their knowledge of the Lord's Prayer. Question is why do they care with about the parents occupation? Maybe it is connected to the morality of the child,

The event was also joined by Puneet Talwar, Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs.
